What is the Xenair Light Jacket?
It's a lightweight and highly breathable synthetically insulated jacket designed to keep you comfortable all day long without the need to keep changing layers. Lightweight and packable, it's a great additional layer to carry in your backpack, ready for when the temperatures drop.
What is it made from?
The Xenair Light Jacket is created from a Pertex Quantum Air nylon face fabric, recycled nylon lining and body-mapped PrimaLoft® Gold Active+ insulation.
Insulation: The Xenair Light Jacket uses the exceptionally clever PrimaLoft Gold Active+ synthetic insulation for warmth, which contains 55% post-consumer recycled material. This insulation is used in a body-mapped construction, with some uninsulated panels for optimal warmth and pack size - giving you the ideal piece for moving fast in the mountains.
Primaloft Gold Active+ is a clever synthetic insulation that provides ample warmth, even when wet. The ability to retain heat when wet is a huge advantage to synthetic insulation compared to down, alongside it being a vegan alternative. This insulation also uses a special fibre structure, allowing it to be incredibly breathable and help to regulate body temperature by balancing the body's microclimate when working hard. It's partly made from recycled polyester, which, though recycled, maintains performance and feel. This insulation does not migrate and has a four-way stretch to enhance flexibility and freedom of movement.
Fabrics: The outer fabric is constructed from a lightweight 20D Pertex Quantum Air. Pertex® Quantum Air perfectly balances wind resistance and breathability, so you won't have to chop and change layers when you start to work harder. It's designed for intense, fast-paced mountain missions and is treated with a lightweight fluorocarbon-free DWR (durable water repellent) that encourages light rain and snow to bead off the material instead of soaking in; however, please note that this doesn't make it fully waterproof.
The lining on the inside is a 20D recycled nylon, which helps wick moisture away from your body to regulate your body temperature. It's exceptionally soft next to the skin and, being recycled, adds to this jacket’s great eco-credentials.
What are its features?
The Xenair Light Jacket features a simple lightweight YKK® VISLON® centre front zip closure. A soft chin guard helps eliminate any discomfort or chafing from the zip when you're busy working hard.
The Body-mapped insulation features uninsulated panels to aid thermoregulation by increasing the jacket's breathability. It also helps reduce bulk and pack size, making this an excellent backup layer to carry in your backpack year-round.
The sleeves are pre-curved and articulated, providing extra fabric where you need it most, improving freedom of movement and arm lift. Sleeve articulation helps stop the sleeves from riding up when fully stretched, helping you stay fully covered on steep ascents.
For storage, there are two YKK® concealed zipped hand pockets, ideal for keeping trail snacks, gloves and a GPS device close to hand. One of the pockets doubles as an integrated stuff sack, allowing you to pack it down easily when not in use. It even has a convenient harness attachment loop so you can keep it close, ready for when the temperature drops.
At the bottom of the jacket is a lightweight single-sided rear hem adjustment with an anti-snag tether, great for sealing out sudden gusts of wind and keeping your body warmth in.
