Good question! It's a durable, warm, everyday jacket with a stylish, heritage design that embodies Royal Robbins' Yosemite DNA. It has a sustainable construction, with a robust outer face, soft flannel lining and recycled insulation for maximum warmth.
What is it made from?
There's a clue in the name - this jacket uses Billy Goat Canvas, made from an eco-conscious blend of responsibly harvested organic cotton and TENCEL™ Modal. The material is naturally breathable and has the freedom of stretch for optimum comfort and flexibility.
TENCEL™ Modal is an eco-friendly, biodegradable and compostable material that uses fibres from naturally grown beech wood using a responsible pulp-to-fibre process. The process is self-sufficient in energy and recovers co-products from component parts of the wood. The fibre itself is renowned for its exceptional softness, giving this jacket a luxurious feel.
Ultrasoft Dreamtrekker organic cotton TENCEL™ flannel lines the body, which is smooth and cosy against the skin, environmentally friendly and offers a timeless country style.
For insulation, the jacket uses 60g of a recycled polyester blend in the body for core warmth. It's a synthetic insulation that is effective even when wet, so if you get caught in a quick shower, it still guarantees warmth when needed most.
The sleeves are not insulated, therefore are lined with cosy recycled polyester microfleece, reducing the bulk and weight of the jacket.

The Billy Goat II is designed similar to an overshirt. It has a classic collar and button-down fastening at the front, perfect for transitioning between smart to casual or day to night.
There are two chest pockets, perfect for a mobile phone or wallet, and two subtle hand pockets that give you extra room for other items like keys or earbuds.
