What is the L.I.M Proof Jacket?
It's a lightweight and highly packable waterproof shell jacket ideal for protecting you from the elements during fast-paced mountain adventures and activities closer to home when the weather's not playing ball. Its lightweight construction and proprietary PROOF™ 2.5 layer technology make it an excellent choice for various outdoor escapades in mild, unpredictable weather.
What is it made from?
The L.I.M Proof is constructed from Haglof's proprietary waterproof fabric, PROOF™ 2.5 layer. As the name suggests, this material has a 2.5-layer construction, comprising a durable face fabric, a reliable waterproof membrane underneath, and a sprayed-on backer to the jacket's interior as the 'half' layer of the fabric. This half layer enhances the durability of the waterproof membrane and provides better next-to-skin comfort.
The L.I.M Proof uses a soft, 20-denier face fabric made from 100% polyamide and coated in a PFC-Free DWR (durable water repellant) to encourage water to bead off the jacket, enhancing the material's waterproof properties. This DWR is free from harmful fluorinated chemicals, also known as forever chemicals, that cause damage to the environment. This material is also bluesign® approved, adding to the jacket's eco-credentials.
As previously mentioned, this jacket uses Haglofs proprietary PROOF™ membrane to keep the rain at bay without compromising breathability, letting sweat vapour escape so that your jacket doesn't begin to feel hot and clammy. It makes a great alternative to Gore-Tex®, so don't be put off just because this jacket doesn't have that classic diamond label!
What are its features?
Starting from the top, a snug-fitting elasticated hood helps protect you from wind and rain. It sits closely around the face, eliminating the need to waste time faffing with a more traditional storm hood.
Two zippered mesh-lined hand pockets offer space for storing your trail essentials such as a mobile phone, energy gels and trail snacks. Their mesh lining allows them to double up as ventilation zips to improve the airflow inside the jacket if you start to get a bit warm.
The cuffs and bottom hem are elasticated to improve the fit and stop it riding up if wearing a backpack, whilst the elastic cuffs allow you to quickly pull up the sleeves and expose your wrists to swiftly dump heat if you're starting to work up a sweat.
Reflective details to the arms, hips, and chest help to increase your visibility to other road users in low light.
