The Manaslu is probably one of the best UK mountain jackets available today. Designed specifically for the worst conditions and made using the best Gore-Tex Pro fabrics this tough and reliable jacket will shrug off the worst of the weather and handle the rigours of the gnarliest mountaineering adventures.
Made using 3 Layer Gore-Tex Pro 40D in the main body and hood, then the super burly 3 Layer Gore-Tex Pro 80D in the high wear areas prone to wear from climbing or wearing a pack (such as shoulders and arms) means that this jacket was designed to take a beating. The jacket perfectly balances weight, durability, breathability and flexibility.
The guys at M.E. have used all of their Storm Construction techniques during the design and build of the jacket. Everything from seam construction, placements and taping; which face fabrics to use, bar tack reinforcement and storm guarded YKK Aquaguard front and pit zips. The laminated cuffs now include a velcro that doesn't allow water to freeze in it, meaning they'll stay tightened up in the coldest conditions. The inner pocket is also now laminated and laser cut to further reduce stitching and weight. The face panel is also now seamless for added comfort.
It is built around Mountain Equipment’s women's “Alpine Fit” block so it has a closer fit but with enough room to allow for other layers, without any excess material that will flap around in tough weather conditions. The sleeves are pre-shaped and articulated meaning the jacket wont restrict your movement whilst your climbing, using walking poles or scrambling up steep ridges. The, already pretty wonderful helmet compatible hood now has Cohaesive cordlocks to add to its streamlined structure.
The Dual Tether Hem Drawcord allows for greater fit customisation whilst also eliminating the risk of snagging things like ice axes and crampons. M.E have engineered all the pockets on the front of the jacket in accordance with their Stratum Storage System Construction which increases the internal pocket size by as much as 25%; so there is stacks of room for maps, gloves, hats and whatever else you like to store in your pockets.
