What is the Sakata Hooded Parka?It's a two-layer waterproof jacket, insulated with synthetic padding, designed to keep you warm, dry and looking bang on trend. The Sakata Hooded Parka is the perfect in-between for those seeking a less techy looking piece that gives the same performance in miserable weather - ideal for leisurely walks, casual everyday use and outdoor lifestyles.
It has similar functions to a Rab Valiance Jacket but is more suitable for informal urban and relaxed outdoor activities.
What is it made of?
The outer material is made from lightweight and durable polyester, which is 60% recycled. It's fully windproof and waterproof yet doesn't hinder breathability - the materials allow vapour, like sweat, to escape, preventing you from feeling clammy underneath. A PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent) encourages rain and snow to bead off the fabric instead of soaking in. If you're unsure, PFC-free means it hasn't used per-fluorinated chemicals that harm the environment - a much greener choice than conventional treatments!
The lining is made from recycled polyester. Though recycled, this material doesn't skimp on quality. It feels lovely and smooth next to the skin should you be wearing a tee or vest top underneath. The lining is moisture wicking, allowing you to wear it in milder temperatures, too, without having moisture and sweat build up next to the skin.
Synthetic polyester insulation fills the jacket. Synthetic insulation has multiple benefits depending on your activity and the conditions. It can retain heat when wet, unlike down, making it fantastic for damp climates and wet weather while being incredibly durable, lightweight and highly flexible for all-day comfort.
What are its features?
This parka has a front zip fastening with a double storm flap for reinforced weather protection. The storm flap can be closed with snap fasteners for a quick solution, also giving you multiple ways to wear the jacket! You could leave the zip undone and close the snap fasteners to let a little more airflow in without exposing yourself to the wet and windy elements.
It has a cosy hood with a peak at the top to help direct rain away from your face, and a volume adjuster to optimise the fit around even the smallest of heads to keep you protected.
Two covered zip pockets and a sizeable breast pocket are perfect for a mobile phone, doggy bags, trail snacks or headphones. For more valuable belongings, there's an inside pocket with a zip closure that makes it easy to access yet keeps items like a wallet or keys more secure inside.
A drawstring at the waist allows you to cinch in the fit and retain more heat inside. Cuffs on the sleeves are also adjustable with velcro straps, allowing you to adapt them around chunky gloves or mitts in colder weather.
The parka is finished with subtle reflective detailing to give you more visibility in poor conditions or after daylight hours.
