This beast of a jacket is one of Fjallraven's most durable, protective and hard wearing jackets. If you want a jacket to probably last longer than you will, look no further...
The main bulk of the fabric used on this jacket is Fjallraven's own G-1000 Eco fabric; a polyester and cotton blend which can be inpregnated with greenland wax to improve the weather resistance and longevity. The 'Eco' part refers to the use of organic cotton and recycled polyester. On harder wearing parts of the jacket or areas that require more resistance towards abrasion, G-1000 HeavyDuty has been used. This is their thickest and most durable fabric, ideal for areas such as the shoulders, sleeves and pockets. All the small intricate details like the toggles, zip pulls and logos are made from Vegetable tanned leather, while the buttons feature the classic Fjallraven fox logo. Extra fabric in the armpits and a bellow pleat at the back provide excellent mobility, while the buttons on the sleeve cuffs secure the fit and block out the elements.
Fjallraven have equipped the No.68 jacket with a oversized hood which encompasses your head in a cocoon of safety, protecting you from wind, snow and rain. The peak wraps all the way round your head and means it can be folded down to provide further protection, then folded back again to allow increased visibility. The peak/visor can be folded back into two positions to fine tune your visibility and protection according to the weather conditions. When not being worn, the hood provides a warm collar to shield from the wind and rain.
Storage is one of the main features with this particular jacket, with two diagonal chest pockets, two drop buttoned pockets underneath, two large pockets on the back and two inner pockets, one of which is zipped. The main zip down the front of the jacket is two way and can be unzipped from the bottom to accomodate a gear belt, more items in the inner pockets or when seated, while a protective flap covers the zip for added durability and weather protection. Press buttons secure the protective flap down and controls it during high wind.
This is one burly jacket that'll tackle just about anything you throw at it, as long as it's not summer trail running...
