For 100 years, Hanwag has been manufacturing high-quality mountaineering and trekking footwear at their headquarters in Vierkirchen, near Munich. When Hans Wagner started making boots and shoes in 1921 with the Hanwag brand name, he ensured that production took place on site, in his own premises. This remains true to this day.
Today, Hanwag manufacture at their headquarters in Vierkirchen in Bavaria and also have their own production facilities in Hungary and manufacturing partnership in Croatia. Three different methods are applied: the boots are double-stitched or cemented, or made using innovative direct injection technology (where the sole is attached directly). As a result, Hanwag has a wide selection of footwear models, ranging from a hard-wearing leather boot that can be re-soled to a lightweight, flexible fabric boot.
