AKU Outdoor Boots & Shoes

AKU is a family run company based in Montebelluna, Treviso, in northern Italy; an area famous for making high quality sports footwear (and Prosecco!). The company started by Galliano Bordin, a small workshop repairing boots and shoes, has now grown into a global industry supplying the highest quality products. The wealth of experience gained by repairing boots underpins the design and production qualities of AKU today. Galliano’s son, Paolo Bordin, now runs the company and continues the tradition of producing high quality trekking and outdoor footwear.

AKU’s range encompasses all areas of mountain sports, from high altitude mountaineering to active leisure footwear, walking boots & shoes, with all models underpinned by a genuine love of manufacturing and built on the age-old prestigious tradition of Italian workmanship.

Today research into new technologies and production techniques has enabled AKU to produce high quality, lightweight, high performance models that are still designed and tested at their Montebelluna plant. All their top models are produced, pretty much by hand, in Italy with other models being produced at their own facility in Cluji Napoca Romania.

Trekitt have a very close working relationship with AKU resulting in the highly successful Pilgrim military range. The Pilgrim boots were a design and development partnership that grew out of a need to find the perfect military boot that could meet the demanding requirements of modern tactical applications. We continue to develop the military range with AKU and remain the UK exclusive retailer of Pilgrim boots.
