What are the Utilana Short Johns?
You may have already guessed, these Short Johns are a shorter version of Tierra's Utilana Long Johns. They're designed to provide warmth with less coverage, weight and bulk than classic baselayer leggings for active mountain missions in cool temperatures; they double up nicely as pyjamas too!
What are they made of?
These short johns are made with a blend of merino wool, recycled nylon and lycra.
Merino wool is renowned for its fantastic performance properties, being naturally soft, breathable, fast drying, and odour resistant, which you'll be grateful for on a hot day. It's effective at regulating temperature – it'll keep you warm during the winter and cool during the summer, ideal for wearing all year round.
The recycled nylon provides extra durability without adding excessive weight and bulk. Being recycled, of course, makes it much better for the environment, too, by keeping materials out of landfill.
Lycra gives these pants a lovely stretch to optimise comfort and freedom of movement for active hill days and maximum at-home comfort.
What are their features?
The high waist fit sucks in all the wobbly bits without restriction to keep you feeling comfy, confident and supported. The waistband is made with folded fabric for added thickness and durability, helping to keep it secure and in place on the move.
Flatlocked seams provide next-to-skin comfort, reducing the risk of rubbing and chafing next to the skin when worn for long periods.
The natural performance of the fabric means you could even wear these as pyjamas when camping or staying overnight in a hut/bothy, no matter what the season, making them a fantastic, versatile addition to your wardrobe.
