What is the Protium XT Hoody?
The Protium XT Hoody is a lightweight midlayer for active mountain use in colder climates. It offers plenty of stretch and breathability to keep you comfortable during technical ascents, scrambles and hikes in changeable conditions. Thanks to its soft, brushed fleece material, it could even double up as a day-to-day fleece for more relaxed activity.
What is it made of?
Montane has constructed the Protium XT using Thermo Grid HL brushed back fleece with a light stretch. This is a flexible, double weave fleece fabric with a chunky waffle grid. It feels warm, cosy and super smooth against the skin - so soft you'll never want to take it off!
Thermo Grid HL is effective at regulating temperature, so it's ideal for layering up under a down or shell jacket (or both) when it's icy outside to create a nice balance of warmth and breathability. You could even wear this hoody as a light outer layer during the autumn.
What are its features?
Thanks to its lightweight, low bulk design, you can easily fit the hood under a helmet for maximum warmth on colder days.
The front of the hoody is fastened with a full-length YKK® zip which is easy to use and could even be unzipped midway for extra ventilation during intense activity.
There are two mesh hand pockets fastened with zips for storage. These pockets have plenty of room for hill-snacks, keys, a purse or headphones. You could unzip these pockets for a little extra ventilation if you're working hard, or they also make perfect hand warmers on cold days when you've forgotten your gloves!
Finally, a low profile hem, cuffs and seams help reduce the bulk of the construction, feel much nicer against the skin, and give the hoody a neat, tidy finish.
