What is the Cirrus Vest?
The Cirrus Vest should be in every outdoor enthusiast's kit cupboard. The combination of a fully recycled Cirrus HL insulation and recycled Pertex Quantum outer fabric makes it perfect for virtually any outdoor activity, from winter mountaineering to dog walking. In our wet, windy and unpredictable climate, the Cirrus Vest just makes sense.
What is it made of?
Insulation: Starting with what gives the Cirrus its warmth, Rab use their completely synthetic and fully recycled Cirrus HL (high loft) insulation to ensure warmth in almost all conditions. Down is still the lightest and warmest insulation available, however, it can't deal with wet conditions, rendering it almost useless if the heavens open and you're stuck without a shell. The Cirrus Vest, on the other hand, will retain around 90% of its warmth, even when soaking wet. This latest variant of Cirrus feels more like down than ever before; it lofts similarly and has that 'light and fluffy' feel. As well as this, it's fully recycled, so not only are you getting a fantastic vest but one with environmental credentials to match.
Fabrics: Surrounding the insulation is a fully recycled Pertex Quantum outer fabric. Quantum packs down to a fraction of its original size, weighs very little and features a durable water repellent coating to provide weather protection if you get caught in the rain without a shell. Inside, a similar fabric is used but in a lighter, softer, more pliable variant.
What are the features?
Two hand pockets and one internal pocket store all your usual bits and bobs, while an adjustable hem seals in warmth on cold outings.
Where does it fit in the layering system?
The Cirrus Vest can either be used as a warm midlayer with a softshell/hardshell over the top or as an outer layer when you don't require the warmth of a full jacket.
