What are the Odyssey Mitts?
They're fully waterproof mittens designed for wet and windy mountain days, whether hiking, trekking, or backpacking.
What are they made of?
The outer is made using a recycled three-layer Drilite® material, which comprises nylon with a solution-dyed backer and FC-free DWR (durable water repellent). Nylon is incredibly tough and can withstand the rigours of regular outdoor use and rugged terrain.
The solution-dyed backer has a lesser environmental impact due to the more responsible solution-dyeing process. Solution dyeing requires less water, chemical and energy usage than regular dyeing methods, which means less damage is done to the environment when used. It's also beneficial as colour produced through this method lasts longer than regular, chemical-based dyes.
An FC-free DWR finish encourages rain and snow to bead off the material instead of soaking in, adding an extra layer of weather resistance while improving overall breathability without the use of harmful forever chemicals.
What are their features?
The fully taped seams seal out any water and leakages around the stitching.
These mitts are unlined to keep them as light and low bulk as possible, also allowing you to slip them over other gloves or glove liners for extra warmth.
A gauntlet design reaches further up the wrists for added protection, while the Suregrip palm improves your grip on poles or ice axes, ensuring no slippage occurs for extra reassurance.
A single-handed drawcord closure makes it easy to slip these mitts on when handling gear, ropes and equipment. Plus, wrist tethers help prevent you from losing or dropping the mitts. Tethers are removable to suit your preference.
