What is the Windjammer Helmet Liner?
Good question! It's a liner that fits underneath climbing helmets to give you complete windproof protection when tackling exposed pitches on the rock. The Windjammer Helmet Liner can be used as a helmet liner or doubles up as a regular hat to suit activity in challenging conditions. Whether you're hill-walking in the Breacon Beacons, scrambling in the Lakes or fastpacking in the Peak District, it guarantees warmth and comfort all day long.
What is it made of?
The main fabric is Gore-Tex Infinium™ Windstopper® softshell with a microfleece backer that offers next-to-skin comfort and improved warmth. Gore-Tex Infinium™ Windstopper® is fully windproof yet doesn't compromise breathability.
It's incredibly lightweight and water resistant. Light rain or snow will simply bead up and roll off the material to shield you from changeable weather - perfect for unpredictable UK winters! The microfleece backer provides extra warmth and feels lovely against the skin, so you'll be more than happy to wear this liner for long days in the mountains.
Stretch microfleece has also been used over the crown over the head, allowing the liner to adapt to different head/helmet sizes and shapes easily whilst still providing a balance of insulation all the way around.
What are its features?
There's a clue in the name - the Windjammer Helmet Liner is explicitly designed to go under climbing helmets. Therefore, its low bulk construction makes it comfortable to layer underneath for long, all-day ascents. Flatlocked seams remove density from the stitching, and a lycra-bound hem with ear shaping optimises the fit around the head and ears without feeling tight or restrictive.
