What is the First Light Hybrid Hoodie?
It's a versatile, insulative jacket best used as a midlayer yet capable of providing warmth as a light outer layer for chilly autumnal adventures. This jacket uses a unique combination of insulation to deliver optimum performance, whatever the weather.
What is it made of?
The outer of the First Light Hybrid comprises 20D nylon stretch ripstop, which is tough, lightweight, and flexible. The back and sleeve panels use nylon face wool-backed double jersey, which contains natural merino wool. These panels are strategically placed to help reduce bulk without compromise.
Merino wool is renowned for its fantastic performance properties, being naturally soft, breathable, fast drying, and odour resistant; you'll be grateful for it on a hot day! It's also effective at regulating temperature, keeping you warm during the winter and cool during the summer, making it ideal for wearing all year round.
The outer material is impregnated with a PFC-free durable water repellent (DWR), adding to the material's water resistance, encouraging light rain and snow to bead away.
PFC-free means perfluorinated chemical-free. Perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs), used to add water repellent to textiles, aren't able to break down, so once they reach nature via factory water waste, they stay in the ecosystem and contaminate living organisms, working their way up the food chain. PFC's are suspected carcinogens and have been known to affect mammal reproduction and hormone production. Therefore, many leading brands in the outdoor industry are now prioritising cutting out the use of these chemicals entirely to contribute to a more responsible manufacturing process.
The lining of the jacket is made with stretchy woven nylon to enhance freedom of movement.
The First Light Hybrid is insulated further with migration-resistant PrimaLoft® Gold Active Insulation.
Primaloft® Gold Active is a synthetic insulation that provides ample warmth, even when wet. The ability to retain heat when wet is a huge advantage to synthetic insulation compared to down. This insulation is also incredibly breathable and helps to regulate body temperature, balancing the body's microclimate when working hard. It's made from recycled polyester, which, though recycled, maintains performance and feel. This insulation does not migrate and has a four-way stretch to enhance flexibility and freedom of movement - perfect for climbing, ski touring, or even using hiking poles.
What are its features?
This hybrid jacket comes with an updated design and fit; however, it has minimal features to lessen weight and keep everything straightforward.
The helmet-compatible hood provides ample head and neck protection, even when wearing protective gear.
For storage, there are two zipped hand pockets and a concealed zip chest pocket, which works perfectly for keeping chunky belongings out of the way, such as a wallet, mobile phone, or GPS device.
You can pack the entire jacket down for a simple, on-the-go storage solution, too!
