What is the Ascendor Summit Hoody?
It's a luxurious technical fleece, built for alpine and mountain use. The Ascendor Summit Hoody feels super soft and cosy next to the skin, and has fantastic functional properties putting it one step ahead of the game. Thanks to its body-mapped, low bulk construction, this piece is a staple for any serious outdoor enthusiast or winter climber.
What is it made of?
The Ascendor Summit Hoody combines 20D Pertex® Quantum Air, Thermic™ G Grid backer recycled polyester fleece and a brushed back polyester knit lining, creating a lightweight, ultra soft layer that can wick moisture away efficiently yet still keep you warm and cosy.
Pertex® Quantum Air creates a fine balance between wind resistance and breathability. It is engineered with increased permeability which helps airflow through the fabric, resulting in regulated body temperature and increased overall comfort.
The Thermic™ G fleece is body mapped across this design, with a grid backer that helps trap warm air and reduce overall weight. Though warm, Thermic™ G is really breathable and can wick away moisture quickly, leaving you feeling fresh during intense mountain activity.
The brushed back polyester knit lining creates a ridiculously soft finish inside that feels fabulous next to the skin – you really won’t want to take it off!
What are the features?
One of the major highlights of this fleece is the body mapped fabric positioning that allows improved temperature regulation. Pertex® Quantum Air is strategically placed around the upper torso, shoulders and upper arms - places with much more exposure to that icy breeze.
The hood also uses soft gridded fleece to feel cosy around the ears and face. Pertex® Quantum Air is placed on the side of the ears and on the chin for shielding.
The centre front zip runs just over halfway down the hoody, with a wind resistant zip guard sitting behind to help keep the gales out when it's blowing a hooley. For storage, a roomy pocket sits on the chest, secured using a lightweight zip pull that is easy to get hold of with cold fingers or gloves on.
Flatlock seams run throughout the entire construction, which feel slim and soft against the skin, improving overall comfort so you can wear this on long, multi-day ascents without chafing.
Elasticated binding features at the cuffs and hem to cinch them closer to the body, keeping the heat in and the weather out. The hem is dropped at the rear, allowing more coverage for the lower back, helping to properly insulate vital areas in cold climates. There are also integrated thumb loops built into the ends of the sleeves, which help to keep the sleeves in place, sitting slightly over the hands for maximum protection. These loops are hidden so they actually look really subtle, and you don’t look like you have a huge hole in your fleece when you’re not using them.
How does it fit?
This fleece fits slim to allow you to layer up a down jacket and/or shell jacket over the top. It’s a really fantastic piece to put under a shell jacket – when you need to open the vents, the Ascendor Summit can be worn underneath and will help to stop the wind chill, so you can get a much more gradual cool down.
It's also versatile enough to be used as a warm outer layer when the temperatures are milder.
