What are the Bug Barrier™ Quarter Socks?
Ankle socks with added protection. The Bug Barrier™ Quarter Socks are technical summer socks that are perfect for hill walking, hiking, summer camping in the Highlands or even running a few errands on a hot weekend. They have built in technology to prevent creepy crawlies ravaging your ankles and ruining your plans.
What are they made of?
These socks are constructed using a unique blend of polyester, hemp, elastane and nylon. They are extremely durable, comfy and soft next to the skin, with high breathability to keep you feeling fresh after wearing them for long periods.
They have unique, built-in Bug Barrier™ technology that helps ward off insect bites around the feet and ankles. Bug Barrier™ offers exceptional protection, using Insect Shield®, an EPA registered treatment applied to the fabric, proven to provide long lasting, effective protection against insects.
Thanks to the soft hemp-blend fabric, these socks are naturally odour resistant, so you can wear them on long days in the mountains without having to worry about offending your campmates when you get back to the tent.
What are their features?
They're just socks... right? Well, these socks are no ordinary socks. They're actually super techy and functional to give your feet maximum comfort and cushioning. They have anti-bunch construction with a deep pocket 'Y' heel, channel zone and a pique cuff, which help the sock to stay in place and prevent it from slipping down your foot as you walk.
Fine mesh ventilation and a side mesh channel help to create better airflow to the foot. This promotes improved temperature regulation to keep the feet cool. However, this doesn't mean that these socks will feel chilly in colder seasons, as the fabric has insulative properties to create a balance of warmth in cooler temperatures.
