What are the Singi-X Trousers?
The Singi-X Trousers are primarily designed for trekking but work incredibly well as multi-use trousers for various outdoor activities and lifestyles, whether working, hiking, trekking or travelling across the globe. Weighing just 530g, they have a respectable weight-to-durability ratio, thanks to their adaptable G1000® construction, and are ideal for cooler conditions.
What are they made of?
Fjallraven has made these trousers with nylon, polyester and elastane blend, and added stretch panels that use their own G1000® Eco Stretch fabric.
The primary material uses a mixture of nylon and polyester to provide fantastic durability with minimal weight. The nylon adds strength, whilst polyester helps to cut down the weight without compromising abrasion and tear resistance. It also enhances the overall feel of the trousers, creating a much smoother sensation next to the skin than nylon alone. Elastane adds a little 'give' to these trousers, improving flexibility for technical adventures and steep includes.
The G1000® Eco Stretch panels provide reinforcement to high-wear areas. G1000® is one of Fjallraven's cornerstone materials. The G1000® Eco Stretch uses a blend of 65% recycled polyester and 35% cotton, which is breathable and hardwearing. Unlike the original G1000®, the Eco Stretch version provides plenty of stretch to enhance comfort further for everyday wear.
G1000® materials can be adapted to different personal preferences or climatic conditions using Greenland Wax. The wax allows you to customise the fabric's properties, such as wind and water resistance and breathability.
Greenland Wax is easy to apply - you can literally do it anywhere! If you'd like to learn more about how to apply it correctly, check out our short YouTube tutorial by clicking here.
What are their features?
The Singi-X Trousers come under the regular fit block to provide ample room for movement without feeling baggy. They have tapered legs to reduce the bulk and prevent excess material from snagging on rough terrain or jagged rock, and slightly more spacious seat and thigh areas to make room for longjohns underneath.
An integrated webbing belt around the waist allows you to cinch the fit around the mid-section without enduring the discomfort of chunky leather straps.
Open hand and bellowed side pockets with low-profile flaps provide storage for multi-tools, trail snacks or mobile phones.
Seams use a reduced seam allowance to save fabric. This, combined with a 4mm top stitch, reduces bulk inside to promote all-day, next-to-skin comfort. Side seams have also been moved back to allow for integrated ventilation and articulated knees, which provide enhanced freedom of movement around the joints - handy for stepping high.
Small openings at the knee also allow you to insert kneepads if you're working or partaking in a bit of bushcraft - though don't worry, there are no gaping holes in the fabric. Your knees are still fully covered if you don't use this feature.
Brass button details use a stainless finish, made using an energy-saving plating technique to reduce water and chemical consumption and giving these trousers some extra eco-friendly credentials.
The hems of each leg are also reinforced for additional durability, and a gusset and webbing adjuster around the bottom allow you to adapt the fit around different footwear, making these trousers compatible with both summer and winter boots.
