What are the Massone Pants?
They're lightweight, super stretchy trousers that are functional enough for rock climbing yet comfy enough for lounging around at home. The Massone Pants are made with a combination of eco-friendly and technical materials to help reduce environmental impact without compromising performance.
What are they made of?
These trousers are made with a unique, sustainable material called EcoCosy® and T8® TECH polyester with added PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent).
T8® Tech polyester is light and low bulk yet durable enough to withstand wear and abrasion from rough surfaces.
EcoCosy® is made of sustainable wood cellulose (wood pulp) and has certifications from the USDA (US Department of Agriculture) to confirm that it's 100% biobased. The manufacturing process of EcoCosy® also meets the highest level of Sustainable Textile & Leather Production (STeP) by OEKO-TEX® certification standard, making these trousers fantastic for the more eco-conscious climber.
The material itself is durable, breathable and boasts high tenacity to optimise freedom of movement. It feels smooth and soft against the skin, comfortable enough to wear for long days at the crag or even for everyday errands where you require something more functional.
PFC-free DWR provides water resistance (please note that this is not the same as waterproof) without added harmful chemicals. If you were wondering, PFC-free means perfluorinated chemical free. Perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs), used to add water repellent to textiles, aren't able to break down, so once they reach nature via water waste from factories, they stay out there and contaminate living organisms, working their way up the food chain. PFC's are suspected carcinogens and have been known to affect mammal reproduction and hormone production. Therefore, like many leading brands in the outdoor industry, Mammut has now made it a priority to cut out the use of these chemicals entirely to contribute to a greener manufacturing process.
Just to add to their credibility, these trousers have also been made in conjunction with FairWear standards. Mammut works with FairWear to ensure safe, ethical working conditions in their factories, helping to protect workers' rights and being considerate and sustainable with their processes.
What are their features?
A higher, elasticated waistband gives you more coverage and support where you need it without feeling uncomfortable and restrictive. The waistband has an easy-to-use drawstring that allows you to adjust the fit precisely. Thanks to eyelets on both sides, you can also wear the drawcords inwards or outwards for added convenience and safety.
A gusset crotch provides ample freedom of movement, allowing you to reach for that next hold. This gusset also takes away stress from vital seams, helping to prevent those embarrassing split trouser moments on the wall!
Two front pockets allow you to store snacks and energy gels, whilst a zippered thigh pocket is ideal for safely keeping keys or a mobile phone.
These trousers are made with a climbing-specific pre-shaped cut, giving your joints a little extra space to move around.
A tapered leg and elastic hem reduce volume around the ankles, ensuring material doesn't get in your way or accidentally hook onto holds at the gym.
