What are the Taiss SO Pants?
They're durable softshell trousers designed for various mountain activities, including mountaineering, climbing, and scrambling. You can also use them for more general activities when conditions are challenging, such as hiking and scrambling.
What are they made of?
These trousers are made from a double-weave, four-way stretch material with Mammut SOFTech™ technology, Polygiene® Stay Fresh, and a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent). It's robust enough to resist abrasion from rock and rough surfaces, yet provides stretch to improve freedom of movement for steep inclines and technical climbing manoeuvres.
Mammut's SOFTech™ combines the second and third clothing layers to offer improved protection in varied weather conditions. Again, these materials are abrasion-resistant, stretchy and breathable to promote better temperature regulation.
Polygiene® Stay Fresh is added to the material to help it stay fresher and odour-free for longer, perfect for multi-day trips where you'll be lacking facilities and need to pack as little weight as possible.
The PFC-free water repellent encourages light rain and snow to bead off the fabric. However, please note that this doesn't make the trousers fully waterproof. PFC-free treatments don't use per- or poly-fluorinated chemicals, also making them much more eco-friendly.
Mammut works with FairWear to ensure safe, ethical working conditions in their factories, helping to protect workers' rights and being considerate and responsible with their processes.
The product is also bluesign® approved, meaning it's manufactured in a way that is safe for the environment, workers and consumers. bluesign® certifications ensure that the materials used avoid harmful substances, use reduced air and water emissions, increase resource productivity, and the production line is more transparent and trustworthy.
What are their features?
You can adjust these trousers at the waistband to achieve a perfect fit.
They have two zipped pockets compatible with backpacks and climbing harnesses, plus a zipped leg pocket that is best for bulkier items like a mobile phone, as it keeps them out of the way.
The hem is asymmetrically shaped to optimise the overall fit, especially when wearing chunky mountain boots. The drawstring adjusters allow you to adjust the hem further to suit your preference. You also get a stowable attachment hook for attaching the hems to your boots, ensuring the leg doesn't ride up or allow weather to seep through the gaps.
