What are the Alpine Mountain Pro Pants?
These pants work hard so you can play hard. These are super versatile performance hiking pants that offer light, breathable coverage while looking and, more importantly, feeling great. They're perfect for multi-day adventures in the mountains or a weekend away in the country, made with durable fabric and a technical design to withstand miles of scrambling and bushwhacking in changeable conditions.
What are they made of?
The Alpine Mountain Pro Pants are constructed using a combination of quick dry recycled polyester and elastane, which are Bluesign® approved, with a PFC free durable water repellent (DWR). The recycled polyester is made with plastic bottles rescued from landfills and provides lightweight durability and protection to create reliable, long-lasting trousers. The elastane allows a four way stretch within the fabric to promote freedom of movement and mobility when tackling steep, technical ascents.
Textiles with quick dry properties are fantastic for exploring warm climates or days out with more variety in terms of the terrain or weather. They don't hold on to moisture like regular cotton fabrics would do, so if you're scrambling through a stream or working up a sweat under the sun, these pants will be on your side all day long.
Perfluorinated Compounds (PFC's) are man-made chemicals that can cause harm to the environment - many brands are moving away from using these chemicals for that reason, including Royal Robbins. PFC free DWR's are much more sustainable and still work fantastically well to provide light water resistance to the fabric.
Bluesign® approved fabrics are much more sustainable as they are manufactured ethically and safely, considering the environment, workers and consumers involved.
What are their features?
There is a multi-flex waistband at the top of the trousers that utilises low-profile elastic to improve the fit without adding extra bulk and weight to the design. It feels comfortable and moves with the body to help prevent restriction when challenging yourself in the mountains.
There are multiple pockets around the waist, on the thigh and on the back of the trousers, including a handy zipped pocket for stashing away more valuable belongings like a purse/wallet, keys or a phone.
Fasten the trousers up with a front 'locking snap' closure, which provides extra security and flexibility where you need it most. These pants have a gusseted crotch which provides extra mobility and movement in key areas whilst helping to relieve pressure from vital seams, so you don't have to worry about splitting your trousers in front of your mates!
Around the ankles is an adjustable cuff cinch system, which allows you to tailor the fit around chunky walking boots to keep the nasty weather out.
How do they fit?
These pants use Royal Robbins' Active fit, which is slightly slimmer to a regular fit, reducing overall bulk and creating a more tapered silhouette, without feeling restrictive or tight.
