What are the Compass Pro Pants?
The Compass Pro Pants are light yet durable outdoor trousers that protect from both damp and sunny weather. Thanks to their functional design and technical fabrics, these trousers are the perfect go-to trousers for hiking, hill walking and scrambling.
What are they made of?
These trousers are made with TecWEAVE™ Stretch, a blend of nylon and elastane, which feels smooth on the skin. TecWEAVE™ Stretch, as you may have guessed, is super stretchy and offers supreme freedom of movement for various activities, enhancing comfort tenfold. The blend is also lightweight yet durable enough to endure a beating in different terrains and conditions throughout the year.
For sunnier months and hill days when exposed to the sun, the material has a handy UPF 50+ rating to provide sufficient protection from those harmful rays.
The material is impregnated with a PFC-free durable water repellent (DWR), adding to the material's water resistance and encouraging light rain and snow to bead away. However, please note that this doesn't mean that they're fully waterproof.
Perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) used in earlier DWRs can't 'break down', so once they reach nature (usually via water waste from factories), they stay out in the environment and contaminate living organisms, working their way up the food chain. PFC's are suspected carcinogens and have been known to affect reproduction and hormone production in mammals. For these reasons, many brands are now using PFC-free alternatives to reduce the impact manufacturing has on our beautiful planet.
What are their features?
The Compass Pro Pants have a semi-elasticated waistband to help prevent you from feeling restricted on the move. The waistband is lined with a soft tricot lining for next-to-skin, moisture-wicking comfort and fastened with a simple zip fly.
Belt loops allow you to wear a belt or hook accessories, such as keys or small pieces of gear, onto your trousers for easy access.
Two zipped hand pockets, one zipped thigh pocket, and a rear zipped security pocket provide ample storage options for small essentials like trail snacks and energy gels. All the pockets are semi-mesh lined to help reduce weight and bulk whilst amplifying ventilation.
Two zipped mesh thigh vents also allow you to dump heat quickly if you're working up a sweat, perfect for humid hill days and intense mountain excursions.
