What is the Earthrise Hooded Pullover?
It's a hooded, down-insulated pullover that works just as well as a midlayer as it does a lightweight outer layer for casual errands and autumn outings, whether hiking, camping or trekking for multiple days at a time.
The Earthrise range provides a more eco-friendly alternative to regular down jackets without compromising quality and performance - perfect for environmentally conscious adventurers!
What is it made of?
The outer fabric and lining are made of 100% recycled 20D polyamide, which is lightweight and durable. The outer is downproof, helping prevent down clusters and feathers from leaking through the fabric, while the lining is smooth and feels really comfy next to the skin. This material is coated with a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent), encouraging water to bead off the fabric. However, it doesn't offer complete waterproof protection for when the heavens start to open.
All the down insulation used to fill this jacket is recycled, meaning it contains duck and goose down reclaimed from various sources such as pillows and bedding. Being recycled doesn't mean the down is lesser quality; this insulation has a minimum fill power of 700 and at least is made up of 85% down clusters, offering a high level of heat retention for cold weather and a fantastic warmth to weight ratio. Down insulation is also highly compressible, making it much easier to pack down and stuff away into a kit bag if you're travelling for multiple days.
Can't quite catch the lingo? Here's a quick breakdown.
PFC-free DWR - PFC-free DWR's are much more environmentally friendly than regular treatments, as they don't contain the PFC's (per- and poly-fluorinated chemicals) that damage the environment once released through waste water from the manufacturing process.
Fill power - Fill power measures the warmth and efficiency of the down, alongside its ability to loft/fluff up. A rating of 700 fill power means that 1oz of this down fills 700 cubic inches of space when fully lofted. What are its features?
Generally, the jacket is light and low bulk due to its stitch-through narrow baffle construction. The baffles are individually filled with down, keeping the insulation in place to create an even spread of warmth and preventing down migration. Narrow baffles give a much more contemporary, versatile look, so you can easily wear this jacket casually around town as well as in the mountains without looking out of place.
As you may have already guessed, the Earthrise Hooded Pullover has a hood which is helmet compatible and fully adjustable, making it suitable for climbing and belaying during the winter.
A kangaroo hand pocket with YKK® moulded zips is perfect for warming up your digits and storing small essentials, whether trail snacks, energy gels or gloves. There's also a smaller front pocket with a horizontal zip fastening for valuables like keys, a mobile phone or a wallet.
The entire jacket easily packs down into the pocket and has twin carabiner loops, allowing you to attach it to a bag, backpack or even belt loop instead of having to carry it by hand.
