What are the Skwama Shoes?
The legendary Skwama shoes are primarily designed for overhangs and slab problems, both indoors and out. They make a versatile option for mid to high-level boulderers looking to both improve their technique and simply have a bit of fun on the wall!
What are they made of?
Upper: The upper is made with a tubular construction that comprises microfibre and suede leather, providing ample durability and flexibility for precision and comfort. Elastic taping is also 100% recycled to help reduce the Skwama's environmental impact.
Lining: A Dentex lining in the back of the shoe helps to reduce stretch, allowing them to retain their shape more effectively.
Midsole: A LaSpoFlex full-length midsole, combined with the P3 System™ is supportive underneath the foot, even when the shoes are tightened to the absolute max.
Sole: The Skwamas feature a Vibram® XS Grip 2 sole. This innovative sole is constructed in two parts to enhance longitudinal flexibility, allowing the shoe to maintain optimum torsion stability to improve overall performance.
After years of use, if they look a little worse for wear, you can resole them and make them look (and feel) as good as new without having to fork out for a new pair and put your old ones into landfill.
What are their features?
The Skwamas use an innovative, patented heel construction called S-Heel™, which allows for perfect stability in torsion, enhancing performance and flexibility for heel blocks. They have a protective, ultra-grippy rubber insert for tackling overhangs and a top hook and loop closure band that helps to regulate tension.
The P3 (Permanent Power Platform) system™ is a patented system that helps the shoes retain their downturned shape, no matter how much you wear them, allowing for perfect tension distribution.
Their updated design combines the advantages of a tight-fitting slipper with the precision and volume regulation of a regular velcro closure shoe, making them ideal for lead climbing, bouldering and some multi-pitch routes, both indoors and out.
They feel a little softer yet work well for mid to high-level climbers looking to elevate their training or purely just to have fun on the wall.
