What are the Makra Light GTX?
They're agile all-round boots, ideal for Via Ferrata routes and lower level alpine tours. Alternatively, they make a great hiking and trekking boot for rugged terrain in any condition.
What are they made of?
The upper of these boots is made from a high quality Perwanger suede textile fabric that's incredibly durable and pliable, offering plenty of flexibility to deal with technical manoeuvres and steep ascents.
They're lined with waterproof Gore-Tex® material and have a built-in Gore-Tex® membrane for maximum waterproof protection and breathability, keeping you both comfortable and protected from the elements at all times.
Outsoles are specially developed Vibram® Makra outsoles that give you optimum grip on alpine tours and all terrain, from root covered woodland paths to smooth, slippery rock.
What are their features?
One of the big talking points of these boots is their unique mid-cut upper that makes them so versatile. It's high enough to protect the ankles from stones, scree and scrubby undergrowth and offers plenty of support and stability for descents on uneven terrain. However, it's low enough to give a comfy performance on ascents like regular low-cut boots.
The lacing enhances the uniqueness of these boots, using a two zone system that runs down to the toes. It offers precise tensioning at two vital points and is quick, easy and effective to use. Clamp lace hooks ensure that once you've done these boots up, the laces will stay in place and cannot move unless manually altered, meaning you won't need to keep stopping to re-tighten them!
Shock-absorbing technology in the midsole provides extra relief on solid surfaces, enhancing the overall comfort and cushioning underneath the foot, and a TPU toe cap offers extra protection where you need it most.
They have a 'rocker' or roll-off shape, which feels unnoticeable yet makes for easy movement as they roll under the foot as you take each step, helping you to feel a little lighter on your feet.
