What are the G-Tech Mountaineering Boots?
The G-Tech Boots are perfect for ice climbing, modern mixed climbing, and high altitude mountaineering, designed to guarantee maximum performance in the most demanding and extreme environments.
What are they made of?
An interesting feature of these boots is they're not only super techy, but vegan friendly too!
The gaiter of these boots, which is the first layer you see when looking at them (the outer layer, if you will), is made with thermo-taped, abrasion, and puncture resistant PU. PU is a synthetic leather that doesn't come from animals yet provides excellent performance, similar to the real thing. Thermotaping helps protect the boots from water ingress and heat loss. The material is highly durable and elasticated, making them easier to fasten and flexible enough for comfort during steep ascents. A water repellent internal gusset helps prevent water from soaking through, keeping you dry in snowy conditions.
The next layer is the inner CORE-WRAP™ shell, which uses an overlap construction with insulating fabric to improve heat retention, with structural reinforcement that provides maximum support. The shell is lightweight and doesn't add excessive bulk around the leg, allowing you to move freely when needed.
A Carbon Z-Therm™ insole provides underfoot warmth and comfort without adding weight.
A Vibram® LiteBase sole, made from a rubber compound, is used on only the front section of the boot, keeping the boots' weight down to a minimum and offering superior grip when climbing. Vibram® LiteBase soles are developed to reduce 30% over the overall sole weight by reducing the thickness by 50%, without compromising grip, traction, and durability. At the rear, a Vibram® Spring Lug Tech outsole comprises a rubber shell with a low-density PU content that enhances shock absorption and adapts to different terrain to provide comfort when walking.
Both parts of the sole can be resoled, ensuring these boots will literally last you a lifetime, earning some extra eco-friendly credentials too by reducing their environmental impact.
What are their features?
The wide opening and overlap constructed shell make these boots super easy to put on and take off.
These boots feature a BOA® Fit System that makes it much quicker to adjust the fit with the lacing fastener, instead of faffing about with laces and cords. The adjuster is positioned outside the gaiter and designed to be opened and closed when wearing gloves in cold conditions. So, no matter how many layers you wear, you can adjust them quickly anytime, anywhere.
They're designed with optimal suitability to fit various foot shapes, making them versatile enough for broad and voluminous feet or for wearing super chunky socks!
You can wear step-in and automatic crampons with these boots. Their shape is compatible with both to suit your personal preference and activity.
