What are the TX4 Evo GTX?
The TX4 Evo GTX are waterproof approach shoes constructed with a reliable Gore-Tex® lining. They're ideal for technical approaches, walk-ins and easy climbs when it's raining or when the ground is wet. However, they also work well for everyday wear and outdoor lifestyles.
What are they made of?
Upper: The upper material is suede leather, which provides good flexibility and longevity to survive years of wear in harsh, rocky terrain. A protective rubber edge and toe cap support the upper and help to prevent the sides of your feet and toes from getting bashed against rocks.
Lining: A bluesign® approved Gore-Tex® Extended Comfort lining makes these shoes 100% waterproof without compromising comfort, weight or air permeability, meaning sweat will still be able to escape, helping to regulate temperature when working hard. The lining is made from recycled material obtained from plastics that have reached the end of their lifecycle, preventing them from going to waste. bluesign® approval means the textile is manufactured in a way that is safe for the environment, workers and consumers. bluesign® certifications ensure that the materials used avoid harmful substances, use reduced air and water emissions, increase resource productivity, and the production line is more transparent and trustworthy.
Footbed: An Ortholite® Hybrid Approach 4mm footbed provides underfoot comfort without costing the Earth - quite literally! It's made with recycled rubber, waste foam and open-cell foam, which cuts down on the use of petroleum and energy within the manufacturing process, alongside minimising the amount of waste that reaches landfills. Though more eco-friendly, the footbed doesn't compromise performance and still feels comfortable to wear in tougher terrain.
Midsole: The compression-moulded EVA midsole provides durability and reactivity underfoot.
Sole: These shoes come with Vibram® MegaGrip soles that offer unmatched grip on both dry and wet terrains. These soles are great for moving over longer distances, giving you extra confidence and control in changeable environments. They help to maintain an optimal balance between stability and flexibility, adapting to the ground well, which is ideal for more technical approaches throughout the year.
After years of use, if your boots are looking a little shabby, the Resole Platform™ allows you to get them resoled instead of buying a completely new pair.
What are their features?
An Impact Brake System™ is applied to the sole, designed to absorb more negative ground impact and improve grip, especially downhill. It features a unique lug pattern that encourages as many lugs as possible to touch the ground when you walk, giving any impact more room to spread and, therefore, absorbing more of the shock.
Regarding sustainability, the TX4 Evo GTXs offer some benefits, including recycled tongue fabric, 100% recycled laces and hooks, recycled lining, recycled rubber rands, the Ortholite® Hybrid footbed and a 7% recycled EVA midsole. Whilst not 100% recycled, these shoes are made to last, enhancing their sustainable message by eliminating the need to replace them after just a few years of use. As mentioned, you could get them resoled repeatedly to save the shoes from ending up in landfill, and some pennies in your pocket, too!
The climbing-inspired lacing system optimises the fit and allows for volume adjustments where necessary. Plus, a generous climbing zone at the toe guarantees precision and grip when climbing.
