Gore-Tex® Extended Comfort Lining A reliable Gore-Tex® waterproof lining provides exceptional protection against wet weather for hiking and trekking.
What are the Alp Trainer 2 GTXs?
They're an alpine hiking and trekking shoe designed for rugged use on long mountain days. These boots are comfortable and provide Gore-Tex® waterproof protection, making them ideal for most weather. For reassurance, they've been tried and tested in the beautiful Italian Dolomites to confirm their solidity and robustness.
What are they made of?
The materials are where the magic happens!
The upper is made with suede which is durable enough to withstand use in rugged environments. It gives the shoes a smooth texture that looks fantastic both on and off the mountain and is pliable enough to feel comfortable straight out of the box. On the lower section of the upper, a black rubber rand surrounds the foot for extra protection, giving you more solidity around the toes and sides of the feet. The rubber rand provides additional rock and scree-resistant protection for rocky terrain.
Midsoles use EVA rubber that's solid yet squishy enough to absorb shock on solid ground. EVA can regain its shape well and provides fantastic cushioning under the foot to help improve comfort on longer trails.
Salewa has used the Vibram® Alpine Hiking outsole for this shoe, which is exclusive to their brand. This outsole provides enhanced performance and control in various mountain terrain, excelling in wet, muddy conditions, thanks to the dedicated climbing, traction and braking zones and aggressive lug pattern.
The Alp Trainer 2 GTXs are lined with Gore-Tex® Extended Comfort lining that provides maximum moisture and heat transfer, making them highly breathable and waterproof.
What are their features?
These shoes have a flex collar designed for better flexibility and movement around the ankles, perfect for steep inclines or technical scrambles.
The climbing lacing system goes all the way down to the toes, allowing you to adapt the shoes and tighten them more accurately around the whole foot. A similar thing goes for the 3F system, which uses steel cables to pull the shoe in, wrapping it around the ankle and heel more accurately, ensuring firm ankle support and lateral stability.
