What is the Thundercross? The Thundercross is one of Salomon's most comfortable and highly cushioned trail running shoes for a wide variety of activities, from a quick run in the local woodland to long extended trips into the mountains. Despite the cushioning, they feature a relatively neutral 4mm drop and offer enough support for more technical terrain.
What are they made of?The uppers are made from a woven-like fabric that offers good durability whilst allowing sweat to escape freely. To reinforce areas that are subject to increased abuse (heel, toe, lower side areas), Salomon have placed pieces of material over the top that, in this colour, is represented by the black pieces. Moving down, grip is provided by a Contagrip outsole with 5mm deep lugs, digging easily into loose mud yet still at home on rockier, hard packed surfaces.
What are their features?Down the side of the shoe, you'll notice there are pieces of stiffened material that connect the base to the laces—the idea is that, when you pull the laces tightly, the whole shoe hugs around your foot, improving the overall fit and stability. Salomon call this their Sensifit construction.
Other features include the well-loved Quicklace system which, unlike traditional lacing, can be tightened and loosened in just a few seconds. There's even a handy pocket in the tongue for the excess lace.
