What is the Anti Freeze Hoody?
The Anti Freeze Hoody is a lightweight down jacket with a micro baffle construction that provides exceptional packability and warmth for its weight. It's the ideal jacket for cold, dry conditions, whether you're out in the mountains or hill-walking a little closer to home. Heck, you could even wear it as a day-to-day outer layer when temperatures plummet mid-winter.
What is it made of?
The Anti Freeze uses a 100% recycled Pertex® Quantum Eco outer with a PFC-free DWR, 120g of HyperDRY™ down and a 100% recycled PEAQ Down Eco lining.
Insulation: Filled with 120g (Size UK 12) of HyperDRY™ down, this jacket provides maximum insulation and warmth for exposed mountain activity. The down has a fill power of 750 and is R.D.S and Track my Down™ certified, reassuring you that it has come from sustainable, ethical sources.
HyperDRY™ down is down insulation that has been treated to add water repellency. The treatment is PFC free, makes the insulation up to 40 times more hydrophobic than untreated down and four times faster drying. HyperDRY™ treatments also use 25 times less water and five times less chemistry to achieve the same level of performance as conventional methods.
Can't quite catch the lingo? Here's a quick break down.
Fill power - Fill power measures the warmth and efficiency of the down, alongside its ability to loft/fluff up. A rating of 750 fill power means that 1oz of this down fills 750 cubic inches of space when fully lofted.
R.D.S - The Responsible Down Standard ensures that the down is sourced from happy birds who haven't been plucked and have been well cared for.
Track My Down - Track My Down is a portal that can be accessed through SourceTRACK™ to learn about the fill used in your individual jacket. It allows you to find the source region of the down, verified third-party tested final fill power, cleanliness, content analysis and links to reports and certificates. To access this information, you will find a SourceTRACK™ lot number printed on the garment's hang tag, which you can enter into the Track My Down website.
Hydrophobic - Hydrophobic down dries out and lofts quicker, resisting moisture from light rain or sweat and condensation that may build up inside the jacket during intense mountain activity. PFC free Hydrophobic finishes like HyperDRY™ are not fluorinated, and therefore don't cause damage to the environment like previously used fluorinated treatments - an excellent feature for more eco-conscious adventurers!
Outer: The outer shell of this jacket is constructed with 100% recycled Pertex® Quantum Eco with a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent).
Pertex® Quantum Eco provides a lightweight, soft feel and helps improve the efficiency of the insulation by trapping still air. It's 100% recycled yet still has a fantastic level of performance, like regular Pertex® Quantum fabric, providing effective windproof protection and optimised heat retention.
The fabric is coated in a PFC-free DWR, which encourages light rain or snow to bead off the fabric. Just like the Hydrophobic treatment, PFC-free DWR is much more sustainable than regular water repellent treatments, as it doesn't use harmful PFC's that cause damage to the environment.
Lining: The lining of this jacket is also 100% recycled, constructed with PEAQ Down Eco lining with a grade 4 PFC-free durable water repellent, which helps protect down inside from getting wet. PEAQ Down Eco lining uses bluesign® approved recycled nylon plain weave, which is durable and abrasion resistant yet lightweight. The lining feels soft next to the skin and is highly breathable, improving comfort and helping to regulate temperature during intense activity.
What are its features?
This jacket has a stitch through, mini baffle construction, that feels lightweight and low bulk for improved freedom of movement. It has an adjustable hood that feels nice and snug around the face, which is down insulated for maximum warmth in vital areas.
A full-length YKK® zip with an internal storm flap runs down the centre front of the jacket for easy entry and maximum protection.
For storage, two zipped hand pockets are ideal for keeping hill snacks easily accessible or warming up your hands if you've forgotten your gloves. There's also a zipped internal chest pocket to stow away more valuable belongings like a mobile phone, keys or GPS device.
The cuffs are pre-elasticated, offering improved freedom of movement around the wrists for technical manoeuvres or handling kit. Elasticated cuffs also help keep the heat in by drawing the material closer to the skin when it's not being stretched out.
A hem drawcord at the bottom of the jacket allows you to adapt the fit to whatever you find most comfortable or suit your activity.
The Anti Freeze comes with a Stuff Sac for storage. Stuff Sacs are literally meant to be stuffed! Randomly stuffing the jacket into the bag is much healthier for the insulation, as it prevents folds and creases from developing. Folding the jacket to store it away for longer periods would create cold gaps in the down, causing the jacket to be less efficient.
