What is the Anti Freeze Lite Hoodie?
The Anti Freeze Lite Hoodie is ideal for fast paced activities and intense adventures such as climbing or fastpacking in cooler climates. Weighing just 285g, it's the perfect insulation piece for adventurers who want to keep the weight down without compromising warmth and performance.
What is it made of?
The Anti Freeze Lite uses a 100% recycled Pertex® Quantum Eco outer with a PFC-free DWR, 100g of HyperDRY™ down (15g less than the standard model) and a 100% recycled PEAQ Down Eco lining.
Insulation: Filled with 100g (Size 10) of HyperDRY™ down, this jacket provides maximum insulation and warmth for exposed mountain activity. The down has a fill power of 750+ and is R.D.S and Track my Down™ certified, reassuring you that it has come from sustainable, ethical sources.
HyperDRY™ down is down insulation that has been treated to add water repellency. The treatment is PFC free, makes the insulation up to 40 times more hydrophobic than untreated down and four times faster drying. HyperDRY™ treatments also use 25 times less water and five times less chemistry to achieve the same level of performance as conventional methods.
Can't quite catch the lingo? Here's a quick break down.
Fill power - In short, fill power measures the warmth and efficiency of the down, alongside its ability to loft/fluff up. A rating of 750 fill power means that 1oz of this down fills 750 cubic inches of space when fully lofted. If you're still stumped, check out Trekitt Paul's guide to all things fill power related by clicking here.
R.D.S - The Responsible Down Standard ensures that the down is sourced from happy birds who haven't been plucked and have been well cared for.
Track My Down - Track My Down is a portal that can be accessed through SourceTRACK™ to learn about the fill used in your individual jacket. It allows you to find the source region of the down, verified third-party tested final fill power, cleanliness, content analysis and links to reports and certificates. To access this information, you will find a SourceTRACK™ lot number printed on the garment's hang tag, which you can enter into the Track My Down website.
Hydrophobic - Hydrophobic down dries out and lofts quicker, resisting moisture from light rain or sweat and condensation that may build up inside the jacket during intense mountain activity. PFC free Hydrophobic finishes like HyperDRY™ are not fluorinated, and therefore don't cause damage to the environment like previously used fluorinated treatments - an excellent feature for more eco-conscious adventurers!
Outer: The outer shell of this jacket is constructed with 100% recycled Pertex® Quantum Eco with a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent).
Pertex® Quantum Eco provides a lightweight, soft feel and helps improve the efficiency of the insulation by trapping still air. It's 100% recycled yet still has a fantastic level of performance, like regular Pertex® Quantum fabric, providing effective windproof protection and optimised heat retention.
What are the features?
The jacket is made with a nano-baffle construction that helps to maximise warmth and lower bulk. These baffles are smaller and help to keep the down in place, ensuring it's spread evenly through the jacket to create a balance of warmth.
It has a pre-elasticated hood that fits snugly and feels comfortable to wear underneath a climbing helmet.
You can fasten the jacket using the centre front zip, which also has an internal storm guard to help protect you from the elements and keep the heat in.
Two zipped hand pockets provide space for small essentials such as snacks, energy gels, a mobile phone or a small GPS device. Each pocket is fastened with a zip to ensure belongings inside are kept safe and secure.
The cuffs are also pre-elasticated, which draws the material towards your wrists, enhancing heat retention. It also allows you to layer up underneath, whether an extra fleece, a pair of chunky mitts or both!
At the bottom, the rear drawcord cinches in the hem to prevent gusts from blowing up the jacket, once again optimising heat retention to offer maximum warmth in cooler conditions, whether hiking or even on belay duty.
All this packs down into a small stuffsack that makes the jacket easy to carry around and transport, making it perfect for adding to a kit bag or backpack as a backup layer for pitstops and unexpected cold spells.
