What is the Fireball Lite Hoody?
This lightweight, durable hoody makes the perfect autumnal outer layer that can be doubled up as a toasty midlayer during the cold winter months. It's versatile enough to wear for technical outdoor adventures or just at home running errands, like walking the dog or taking the kids to school. Whether you're scrambling in the Highlands, taking on a challenging ascent in the Lake District or simply heading out for a coffee with the girls, the Fireball Lite Hoody is sure to keep you warm all day long!
What is it made of?
Insulation: Montane has used recycled 40g/m2 Dynamic Eco Insulation in the core body and hood of the jacket to ensure maximum warmth in vital areas. It works exceptionally well to keep you toasty in exposed mountain conditions, creating a comfortable temperature balance and retaining warmth effectively.
Outer/Lining: The outer and lining of the hoody use air permeable Featherlite™ Air Nylon Stretch, which offers plenty of flexibility and durability whilst feeling incredibly lightweight. Thermo Grid brushed back stretch fleece is used on the side panels and under the arms, giving better breathability and helping to reduce bulk. The brushed back feels luxuriously soft and smooth against the skin and still provides sufficient warmth in less vital areas.
What are its features?
Thanks to its light, low bulk construction, the hood of this jacket fits easily under a helmet to offer better protection to climbers on exposed routes. Wearing the hood underneath your helmet can be beneficial to keep it in place and ensure maximum warmth around the head, which is actually one of our main sources of body heat!
Articulated sleeves offer better freedom of movement for the arms and shoulders, so you can reach higher on technical manoeuvres without fabric riding up and skin being exposed to the cold. Cuffs are elasticated to give more flexibility at the wrists, improving mobility and allowing you to fit them over chunky gloves or mitts. At the front, a full length YKK® Vislon zip with an internal storm guard helps keep the weather at bay.
There are two hand pockets fastened with YKK® zips, ideal for storing hill snacks, energy gels, a GPS or mobile phone. Finally, an adjustable drawcord at the bottom allows you to cinch the hem to retain heat and stop the wind from blowing up your hoody.
