What is the Tarrekaise Down Jacket?
It’s a lightweight down jacket with a design optimised to deliver exceptional levels of durability without compromise. The Tarrekaise is ideal for hill and mountain adventures in cold, dry weather, or even casual errands closer to home.
What is it made of?
The main outer fabric and lining is recycled nylon riptstop, which is incredibly durable yet breathable and packable enough to stuff into a backpack or kit bag.
The Tarrekaise Down Jacket is filled with 800 fill power, white goose down insulation, which is incredibly warm yet lightweight.
Materials used to create this jacket are bluesign® and GRS-certified, giving this jacket a few extra eco-conscious credentials.
Can’t quite catch the lingo? Here’s a quick breakdown.
800 Fill power - Fill power measures the warmth and efficiency of the down, alongside its ability to loft/fluff up. A rating of 800 fill power means that 1oz of this down fills 800 cubic inches of space when fully lofted.
White goose down insulation – This insulation uses white goose down and feathers to deliver exceptional warmth with lesser weight. It’s a premium type of insulation and contains the highest quality down to provide a good warmth-to-weight ratio.
bluesign® approval - bluesign® approval means the product is manufactured in a way that is safe for the environment, workers and consumers. bluesign® certifications ensure that the materials used avoid harmful substances, use reduced air and water emissions, increase resource productivity, and the production line is more transparent and trustworthy.
GRS-certified - GRS-certified (Global Recycled Standard) ensures that the products' recycled content has been tracked and verified to meet a certain standard regarding social and environmental factors and a minimum of 50% recycled content.
What are its features?
A helmet-compatible, down-filled hood delivers extra warmth, even when wearing headgear. You can achieve a precise fit with the three-way adjuster, and the wired peak also makes room for better peripheral vision.
Reinforced shoulders help to protect the seams and stitching on the jacket when wearing a backpack.
The shoulders also feature smaller channels of insulation to help prevent down migration and keeping it evenly spread throughout the jacket for consistent warmth and performance.
Hand pockets are ideal for storing small essentials and can be used as handwarmers if you’ve forgotten your gloves. There’s also a large, alpine chest pocket layered underneath a layer of down filling to keep contents warm and help prevent them from freezing (eg energy gels, gloves, etc).
A two-way front zip allows for ventilation when needed and makes room for accommodating a climbing harness.
Lastly, elasticated cuffs and an adjustable drawcord hem allow you to cinch the material and seal the heat in.
