What is the High Coast Hybrid Wind Jacket?
The High Coast Hybrid Wind Jacket is aptly named; it's a jacket of hybrid construction that offers protection from the wind. It uses Fjallraven's HC-Lite fabric for highly packable, lightweight and breathable protection, which can be enhanced to increase its wind and water resistance properties depending on the conditions and intended use.
This light, soft shell jacket is an ideal alternative to a waterproof jacket for dryer days when wind protection is key. It's great for various outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, hill walking, commuting and everyday wear throughout the shoulder seasons.
What is it made from?
The High Coast Hybrid Wind Jacket combines Fallraven's tried and tested HC-Lite fabric and durable polyester ripstop to create the perfect combination of freedom of movement and protection from the elements.
Fjallraven's HC-Lite fabric is a lightweight, packable and highly breathable material that excels when you need a little more protection than just a t-shirt, but you don't need the full protection of a full hardshell. If the clouds do open, this fabric also dries exceptionally quickly. Despite its lightweight nature, this HC-Lite will put up with its fair share of abuse thanks to the primarily nylon-based contents of the fabric.
The polyester ripstop fabric offers excellent moisture-wicking properties in key areas such as under the arms and to the back and torso. It also provides reliable durability without impacting the jacket's small pack size, meaning that it can protect you from the wind for years to come.
What are its features?
The High Coast Hybrid Wind Jacket has a streamlined feature set to keep its weight and pack size to a minimum. However, it does have a two-way front zip that offers tailored ventilation. Whilst unzipping it from the bottom offers a better range of movement for your hips when tackling steep inclines or hopping over countryside stiles.
For storage, there are a number of pockets that offer space for your trail essentials, such as a mobile phone, wallet and trail snacks. One of the pockets doubles as a pack bag for the jacket, so it can be conveniently stowed away when not in use.
The cuffs feature elastic edging for comfort and stop the sleeves from flapping around in high winds. They also allow you to easily bunch them up to 3/4 length sleeves if you start to get a bit warm.
Finally, the jacket is finished with a drawcord adjustment to the bottom hem to help seal out drafts and stop the jacket from riding up when carrying a heavy backpack.
