What is the Khamsin Hoodie?
It's a windproof, water-resistant, highly breathable and extremely durable soft shell jacket designed to keep you warm, comfortable, and protected all day long, no matter the activity, whether you're hiking, scrambling, climbing or ski touring. Unlike many traditional softshell jackets, this one doesn't skimp on style! Thanks to its timeless, clean aesthetic, this versatile jacket is as much at home on the hill as it is in urban environments.
What is it made from?
The outer of the Khamsin Hoodie is made from a light, extremely durable and stretchy fabric called Raptor Flex, which comprises 88% recycled Nylon and 12% elastane. This plain weave fabric is windproof, water-resistant and offers high levels of breathability. Raptor Flex features a four-way stretch that allows you to move freely through technical terrain whilst being lightweight and packable, so when the jacket is not in use, it will only take up a little room in your backpack. Though light, Raptor Flex is robust enough to withstand bumps and scrapes from regular use in various outdoor environments.
The jacket's outer is coated with a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent), which enhances the material's water resistance without using chemicals that are harmful to the environment, allowing the jacket to shed light rain. However, please note this does not make this jacket waterproof. We always suggest carrying a waterproof shell to protect you against heavier downpours or periods of prolonged rain.
For highly breathable and efficient warmth, the Khamsin Hoodie uses an Octa fleece dropped lining to keep you warm yet comfortable all day, even during high-output activities. The Octa fleece is comprised of 100% recycled polyester, making it a more environmentally responsible choice than virgin polyester. Its innovative fibre structure makes it highly thermally efficient while boasting excellent moisture management, allowing you to tackle tough trails and tricky ascents without overheating. This fleece lining is cleverly constructed and mapped throughout the jacket to maximise performance whilst keeping bulk to a minimum for comfort and easy layering.
What are its features?
The Khamsin Hoodie features a fully adjustable hood with a reinforced peak for excellent protection from the elements. The hood can be really cinched in close for secure protection on windy days without inhibiting your vision, whilst the reinforced peak helps keep rain away from the face.
The jacket is fastened with a full-length YKK front zip with an internal storm flap for optimum protection, helping to seal out any strong driving winds.
For storage, you'll find two YKK zipped hand pockets that provide space for keeping your phone, energy gels, and trail snacks close to hand. The pocket's zips are covered with welts to shield the zips from oncoming winds for added protection from the elements.
Elasticated cuffs and a fully adjustable bottom hem help seal out the elements further, keeping warm air in and cold winds out of the jacket. The bottom hem's adjustability also allows you to tailor the fit depending on the thickness of your layers, as this jacket is designed to be worn over both a baselayer in milder climates and a lightweight fleece on colder days.
