What is the Vardag Rain Parka?

It's a casual, highly versatile, waterproof parka that offers protection from the elements for various outdoor and everyday activities. Its longer-length shields provide added protection from the worst of the weather whilst also adding a touch of style and sophistication to the jacket.

What is it made from?

The Vardag Rain Parka is made using Fjallraven's own Hydratic 2.5 layer material, which offers superb waterproof protection for wet days on the hill, in the city or commuting to work.

The Hydratic material comprises recycled polyester, lessening its impact on the planet, which has a PU membrane and PFC-free impregnation to give it its waterproof properties. By using PFC-free methods, this product's environmental impact is cut down even further by eliminating the use of perfluorinated chemicals, aka, 'forever chemicals'.

Though waterproof, Hydratic is highly breathable and can wick away moisture from the inside layer efficiently, meaning you won't be left feeling clammy and damp if you're being more active.

What are its features?

Starting from the top, a two-way adjustable hood lets you cinch it in to shield you from driving wind and rain, whist a soft chin guard increases comfort and protects your face from catching or snagging on the zip.

A large mesh-lined back vent provides excellent ventilation and allows you to dump heat quickly if you're working up a sweat, helping to avoid any sticky, clammy feeling.

A drawcord adjustment to the back of the waist allows you to cinch in the jacket for a flattering silhouette and comfortable fit. Velcro cuff adjustments enable you to seal out the elements whilst reflective tabs fold out from the cuffs for added visibility whilst walking or cycling in low light. This reflective detail can be neatly tucked away when not in use, it tucks away so tidily you almost wouldn't know they are there. This is one of the many practical features that make this parka such a versatile and commuter-friendly jacket.

The parka's fishtail design features front and back poppers, which can be fastened around the legs to create an integrated pair of waterproof shorts - perfect for wet weather cycling when you don’t want to faff around with waterproof over trousers. These handy poppers also help to prevent the coat from catching or rubbing up against your bike chain whilst riding.

For storage, there are two large front pockets with laminated fold-over flaps to help reduce the amount of rain that can make its way into the pockets. If rain does manage to get in, the pockets also feature small drainage holes to allow any water to escape, to avoid literal puddles in your pockets.

The Vardag Rain Parka has been created to be easily repairable to increase the product's life span; for example, if a snap button were to break after years of wear and tear, the jacket is thoughtfully constructed so it can easily be replaced without altering or damaging the jacket. It sounds simple, but you'd be surprised by the number of manufacturers who don't incorporate reparability into their garments.
