What is the Phase XT Jacket?
Montane's Phase XT Jacket offers durable waterproof protection to keep you going on long days in the mountains. This jacket is well equipped for technical adventures such as climbing and mountaineering when the weather isn't on your side - perfect for a UK adventure where it's more than likely to rain!
What is it made of?
The Phase XT is assembled using 70D Gore-Tex® Performance. Using a 70D material creates a much more robust layer, being thicker and tougher than other, lighter denier fabrics.
Gore-Tex® Performance technology has been developed to easily resist scrapes against rugged surfaces and jagged rocks whilst providing reliable waterproof protection. This technology makes this jacket the perfect companion for technical adventures in the Scottish Highlands, where the terrain can be much more rough and challenging.
What are its features?
The overall construction of the Phase XT uses taped seams to enhance the jacket's waterproofness. Taped seams cover each seam individually from the inside, creating an effective barrier that helps prevent water from seeping through the stitching.
The hood is adjustable and helmet compatible. It can be rolled away when not in use, making it fantastic for exposed mountain adventures when you and your gear need to work as one to reach the summit. A three point 'quick release' adjustment on the hood allows you to adapt the fit around your helmet quickly, minimising wasted time to keep your focus on the challenge ahead. A stiffened peak at the top of the hood helps keep wet weather away from the face by providing a little extra coverage above the forehead.
Articulated sleeves offer better freedom of movement for the arms and shoulders, so you can reach higher on technical manoeuvres without fabric riding up and skin being exposed to the cold.
At the front is a two-way YKK Aquaguard® Vislon zip with an internal storm flap to help keep the weather out. The zip can be undone from the bottom up, allowing you to access a climbing harness underneath or get some extra ventilation around your mid-section. Speaking of ventilation, two two-way YKK Aquaguard® pit zips with chunky zippers can be opened if you're looking to dump extra heat. You can easily reach them without taking the whole jacket off too!
For storage, two hand pockets offer a safe place to stow away gloves, snacks and energy gels. These pockets are also fastened with YKK Aquaguard® Vislon zips to ensure complete waterproof protection along each opening. For more valuable items like a mobile phone or GPS device, there's a zipped chest pocket and mesh drop pocket on the inside of the jacket to give you peace of mind that you won't lose them in the mountains.
The cuffs of the sleeves are shaped and have hook and loop adjustment tabs to adapt the fit around chunky gloves, mitts or bare wrists. Finally, a drawcord adjuster at the bottom allows you to cinch in the hem, optimising waterproof protection and preventing gusts from blowing up into the jacket.
