What is the Kinetic 2.0?The Kinetic family has been used and loved by Trekitt for years – the 2.0 features updated materials and an improved fit to make this classic even better. The Kinetic 2.0 is a very unique creature; it takes the softness, stretchiness and breathability of a softshell, and the waterproof capabilities of a hard shell to create a jacket halfway between the two. It's perfect for use in the same situations as you'd normally use a softshell, but where the weather may be a little more changeable, offering true multi-activity put-on-keep-on performance.
What is the Kinetic 2.0 made from? The Kinetic uses Rab's own Proflex fabric. A massive update to the Kinetic 2.0 is that the Proflex is now Recycled! Proflex uses a 3 Layer system – a recycled polyester knit face with PU membrane and a recycled polyester backer. Whilst the membrane is technically waterproof with taped seams, the Kinetic Plus jacket is not designed to replace a true hard shell jacket in extreme conditions. Proflex has a hydrostatic head of 10,000mm with superb breathability and windproofing, thus, you get a jacket that will remain comfortable even under strenuous activity and keep out a lot more weather than your standard softshell jacket, and it will do all of this whilst weighing next to nothing.
What are the features?Featuring a close fitting, stretch on hood that dispenses with adjustable drawcords and has the bonus of a laminated and stiffened and flexible polymer peak to provide extra facial protection. Twin hand pockets and the main zip use YKK Aquaguard zips to make them as watertight as possible. To seal out the elements you get velcro adjustable cuffs and a single end adjustable hem drawcord.
How does the Kinetic 2.0 fit?The Kinetic 2.0 features Rabs Regular Fit, which is much more generous so you can easily layer up underneath it, without creating excess material that flaps around in the wind.
Where does it fit in the layering system? The Kinetic is designed to be worn in the same instances as a softshell, therefore it works best as an outer layer, however, it can also be over-layered when static (i.e, slip an insulated jacket over the top when having lunch to stay nice and toasty).
Although this isn't designed to replace a hardshell in extreme conditions, it does provide greater weather protection when you need the performance of a softshell with the waterproof capabilities of a hardshell. It's exceptionally stretchy, comfortable and breathable, making it one of the most versatile jackets in your kit cupboard
