What is the Valliste Jacket?
It's the perfect all-round jacket built with reliable Gore-Tex® for optimum waterproof protection. The Valliste is suitable for a variety of activities, including trekking, scrambling and skiing and is also fantastic for the general outdoor enthusiast seeking a shell jacket that is versatile and functional.
What is it made of?
The main fabric used to construct the Valliste is 100% recycled PES with two-layer Gore-Tex® for maximum waterproof protection. It feels reasonably lightweight and, being bluesign® approved, has fantastic environmental credentials. Though fully waterproof, it's also highly breathable, keeping you comfortable and your body temperature regulated throughout your adventures.
Outer materials are treated with a PFCec-free DWR (durable water repellent) for reinforced weather protection. PFCec-free DWR treatments are much more sustainable than conventional DWR's, as they don't use particular chemicals that harm the environment, earning this jacket some extra eco-friendly brownie points.
The jacket is lined with a ripstop weave material made from 100% polyester, 30% of which is plant-based! Ripstop is incredibly durable. It's tear resistant and can withstand bumps, scrapes and general beatings from rough surfaces and jagged rocks easily, giving you the reassurance you need to give your activity your all.
What are its features?
The Valliste Jacket has a fully adjustable hood that allows you to adapt and optimise the fit to various head shapes and sizes - super handy for when you're wearing a beanie or have another hood layered underneath. On the back, there's a nifty hanger loop for storage, perfect for hanging the jacket at home or in your tent when you're out camping.
At the bottom of the hood, around the chin area, there's a micro fleece overlay to stop the jacket from catching or rubbing uncomfortably against the skin.
The front of the jacket is fastened with a two-way zip which runs smoothly and is easy to use. Two-way zips double up well as extra ventilation, allowing you to quickly dump some heat without having to fully unfasten or take off the jacket if the weather is pouring.
For added protection, a double storm flap on the front fastening helps to keep the weather out so that rain doesn't seep through the entry and wind doesn't cause a nasty chill. At the bottom, there's a button for easy ventilation, allowing you to undo the zip but keep the bottom closed up should you need to.
There are dedicated ventilation zips on each side if you'd prefer not to use the front fastening, or if you're really working up a sweat, you could even use all three! Might be a bit breezy, mind...
The sleeves have a raglan sleeve construction and are articulated to provide better mobility and freedom of movement for technical manoeuvres on steep ascents or tricky scrambles. Cuffs can be adjusted with velcro adjusters that are easy to use and provide a wider range of adjustments to fit around chunky gloves, mitts, or bare wrists.
For storage, there's an external chest pocket and two large hand pockets with micro fleece pocket bags, perfect for quickly warming up your hands and storing small belongings such as a GPS device, snacks and energy gels.
The hem adjuster can be used to cinch the jacket around the bottom to improve heat retention and keep the weather out when it's blowing a hooley.
Tierra has finished the jacket with reflective details placed inside the sleeve hem, which can be folded up, for better visibility if you're exploring after hours.
