Mountain Equipment Orcus 28+ Anvil Grey

Season:2024W R

Brand:Mountain Equipment

Code:005404-01560

What is the Orcus?

This backpack is a lightweight, versatile carry with a functional yet streamlined design. Constructed with tough, durable nylon, push the Orcus to its limits during tricky approaches on big rock faces or fast paced Alpine adventures when minimal kit and low weight is essential.

What is it made of?

This pack is constructed with a lightweight, high tenacity Robic® Nylon and Nylon 6,6, two of the toughest grades of nylon yarn. These nylons provide considerably better tear strength and durability, helping to resist abrasion and reduce the overall wear of the bag.

Which backsystem does it use?

The Orcus features a EVA backpanel to keep the structure of the carry whilst offering users the option to remove the panel if they are looking to lighten the load. EVA composite shoulder straps are flexible yet durable straps suited for resisting stress and wear from a heavy carry. The webbed hipbelt helps secure the load and pushes the weight into the hips to help reduce the risk of lower back pain when worn. The hipbelt also helps prevent movement of the bag across the back to increase comfort without restricting mobility.

What are its features?

The Orcus has a rolltop closure at the main opening; this fastening is super easy to use and helps to improve the weather resistance of the design.

Multiple storage options create a versatile yet practical carry, which can be used up on the rocks or even for the daily commute to work. There is a roomy main compartment to hold bulkier items, whilst the smaller zipped pocket allows a more secure place to stow snacks and energy gels, keys or a wallet.

There is a dual webbing axe retainer for icy ascents that securely and safely holds ice axes. Storing axes on the outside of the pack frees valuable space inside whilst reducing the risk of axes ripping the material.

The ropestrap is removable and when in use, allows external carry for chunky climbing ropes that could take up the bulk of the pack - a much more efficient alternative to putting them inside. The system is fastened with a sturdy aluminium Grappler™ buckle that is much more durable than regular plastic buckles.

A daisy chain system and haul loops allow extra carry for larger loads, also ideal for those using the Orcus as additional storage on long expeditions.

A compression cord system loops and wraps around the pack to cinch it in and restrict the load. This feature is really convenient to improve comfort and reduce movement of the items within the backpack when it is not filled.

Finally, the Orcus model is hydration compatible for those who prefer carrying hydration reservoirs and water bladders. The strategic design allows users to integrate a specialised water system instead of lugging around hefty bottles.
