What is the Latok 20?
It's a streamlined backpack for alpinists, mountaineers and climbers, offering 20-litres of space to store essential gear and equipment. The Latok 20 has everything you need in terms of function and storage without the additional weight and bulk of standard packs, perfect for adventures where every gram makes a difference.
What is it made of?
The Latok 20 pack is constructed using a mixture of materials, including 210D Cordura with Spectra® Ripstop and 210D Oxford Nylon, both with Hydroshield Dura.
The combination of materials creates a super tough, robust face that can withstand heavy wear and abrasion against jagged rock and rough surfaces.
Spectra® Ripstop Technology uses a super tough grid of polyethylene fibres woven into a solid yet lightweight Cordura fabric. The fibres have a high molecular weight, making them 15 times stronger than steel and bullet resistant materials! It's complete with a high UV resistance to help prevent any sun damage or deterioration when used regularly on exposed routes.
This technology brings a whole new level to technical fabrics, creating something incredibly abrasion, UV and water resistant while extremely lightweight - perfect for rugged environments and changeable weather conditions.
The Oxford Nylon patches reinforce the pack where it's needed most to give it maximum durability.
Which backsystem does it use?
The Latok uses the X-Shield™ carry system uses a single snow-shedding sheet of 420D nylon over a layer of EVA foam. The foam helps prevent sharp bits of kit or equipment from pointing or digging into your back uncomfortably when the pack is mounted. The sheet is removable, so if you want to reduce weight and bulk, this pack allows you to do so.
What are its features?
The main entrance point is through a simple drawcord opening at the top of the pack, meaning you'll have little faff in accessing your gear as there are none of the usual buckles and straps to get in your way. A weather flap seal that sits over this opening prevents rain and snow from getting through, ensuring your belongings are kept dry and protected from the elements.
Shoulder straps are made with ultralight mono mesh and designed to keep the weight down but provide plenty of stability and help spread the weight evenly to improve comfort. Two zippered pockets on the harness are perfect for storing small essentials like snacks and energy gels to keep you fuelled throughout your mission.
The webbing waist belt is removable if you'd prefer not to use it or want to strip the weight down as much as possible. It has a low profile, quick-release aluminium buckle that's easy to operate and secure when worn.
Alongside the spacious main compartment, you also get a zippered rear pocket and zipped internal security pockets for more valuable items like keys, emergency cash, and cards.
Two hipbelt gear loops allow you to hook carabiners or GPS devices to keep them within reach, alongside two ice axe attachment loops with a bungee retention system. These loops help to keep your sharper tools away from your belongings and can be placed in a fashion that helps prevent them from ripping or tearing the pack or nearby entities and clothing.
