What is the Kanken Outlong?
Introducing the new member of the Fjallraven Kanken family - this slightly more spacious and functional version of the classic backpack has additional practical details to make your time outdoors even more enjoyable! It's the perfect backpack for Kanken lovers who like to take theirs for short trips out on the hill but want freedom and comfort to hike further.
What is it made from?
The Kanken Outlong is made from Fjallraven's same hardwearing and water-resistant fabric as the iconic Kanken, Vinylon F.
This durable material is designed to be extra tough; it's able to withstand regular wear and abrasion well, meaning this little bag will last you years to come. It's also water resistant (although not completely waterproof), so you won't have to worry about things getting soaked inside when the weather's a bit naff. If the fabric becomes damp, the fibres swell and become more dense, enabling it to withstand moisture without the need for a coating.
The Kanken Outlong is easy to care for and can simply be washed with a sponge and some warm water should it become dirty or start to look grubby over years of use.

The Kanken Outlong features the same iconic features you'd expect to find in the classic Kanken - plus some thoughtful added extras!
It offers 2 litres of additional space and a zippered base compartment with a liner, allowing you to divide your kit, helping to keep you organised on the go. It’s also handy to help keep wet or dirty items separate from the rest of your kit.
A mesh back system offers added breathability for improved comfort in warmer conditions and when you're working hard. Padded webbing shoulder straps are lightweight and durable enough to withstand everyday wear. A handle at the top of the backpack offers a handy grab-and-go option if you're in a hurry.
The soft shoulder strap and adjustable chest strap improve the overall comfort of the carry by distributing weight evenly across the upper torso.
A spacious main compartment can be zipped down to the base, revealing the entire contents of the bag. A full-width internal sleeve pocket with a padded base provides a secure home for your laptop, whilst a removable seat pad doubles as added cushioning. A small front pocket provides storage for small items you want to access quickly without having to rummage around in your bag, helping to keep you organised on the go.
Two large side pockets with drawcords provide ample space to carry even large water bottles - a feature reserved only for the slimmest bottles in the classic Kanken. A zippered inner pocket provides safe storage for small items of gear, trail snacks and car keys. This stylish and practical backpack is finished with webbing attachments for bike lights should you wish to increase your visibility at night and zip pull cords for easy access to your gear whilst wearing gloves.
