What is the Trailblazer 44?
It's a 44-litre backpack designed for fast-paced, multi-day mountain excursions and extended adventures at every level. Thanks to its versatile, adaptable design, the Trailblazer is perfect for multi-day hiking, trekking, and hut-to-hut adventuring throughout the year.
What is it made of?
Main: The primary fabric is 70D Raptor Cross Lite - a 100% nylon, recycled material with a durable PU coating that provides high abrasion and weather resistance. This material is incredibly durable and will last you for years to come. It's treated with PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent) for enhanced protection without harmful 'forever' chemicals.
Base: The backpack's base is reinforced with 210D Raptor Cross nylon triple ripstop, recycled and treated with PFC-free DWR. With more than double the denier of the face fabric, this base can withstand a harsh beating from jagged rock and rough terrain with ease.
Lining: Halo 200D 100% polyester lining provides durability whilst keeping the weight to a minimum. Polyester has a smoother finish than nylon, helping to protect items inside the pack from getting scratched. The lining is also treated with a PFC-free DWR for reinforced water resistance.
Mesh: Montane has constructed the mesh pockets with Power Mesh, which comprises 80% recycled nylon and 20% elastane. This material is incredibly lightweight, breathable, and stretchy, making it easy to accommodate different sizes of items. The mesh is also quick-drying and allows ample ventilation to reach any damp belongings tucked in these pockets, helping to keep the rest of your kit clean.
What back system does it use?
The Trailblazer uses Montane's ZephyrAD adjustable back system. This system features a Contact Open Mesh back (made from 100% polyester mesh) supported by a pre-curved aluminium frame and a 3D moulded foam back panel with adjustments. This back panel is incredibly breathable and well-ventilated to help prevent sweat buildup around the pack's largest contact point, keeping you comfortable for longer, even in humid conditions. The moulded foam panel also provides good stability, ideal for moving on uneven and technical terrain.
Shoulder straps and hip fins are made with Contact Air Mesh Plus (100% recycled polyester) to keep overall weight low without compromise. These feel light and comfortable to wear, and combined with the Covalent harness configuration, which pulls the pack closer to the body, this backpack hugs the figure naturally to optimise overall feel, user experience and stability.
What are its features?
The easily adjustable back system accommodates different torso lengths and sizes, meaning you can consistently achieve the optimum fit.
Two off-centre 'Click and Go' chest harness straps improve overall security, even when moving quickly.
A bivi-style opening to the main compartment, with a quick-release cord lock adjuster, provides easy yet secure access to your belongings. In addition, there's a locking zip opening which allows you to access inside without undoing the roll-top central opening.
Wrap-around wand pockets with locking security zips allow you to access items inside on the go without taking the backpack off. A large, zipped mesh front pocket and side pockets are ideal for stowing maps, guidebooks or wet clothing.
An internal webbing strap and buckle help to take the load from front panels and zips for improved weight distribution. You can use the bonded front panel and T-hook modular system for attaching hiking poles, whether on the front or side of the pack, as a bungee system or as extra compression straps for maximum versatility.
A hydration bladder sleeve accommodates hands-free, on-the-go hydration. Alternatively, mesh pockets on the harness easily fit soft flasks or small bottles.
