What is the Farpoint Trek 55?
The Farpoint Trek is a versatile 55-litre backpack that combines the features of a travel and a luggage bag. It's built with incredibly durable materials and an array of organisation options for maximum on-the-go functionality.
What is it made of?
The main body of the bag is made of 420D nylon, and the base of the bag is reinforced with 500D high-tenacity nylon. Both of these materials are incredibly durable and can take wear and abrasion easily. The inside of the bag is lined with 200D polyester, which gives it a smooth finish without adding excess weight.
All materials used to construct this bag are 100% recycled, which helps to lower its environmental impact by keeping useable materials in the loop and bluesign® approved.
The bluesign® certification means that the material is manufactured in a way that is safe for the environment, workers and consumers. bluesign® certifications ensure that the materials used avoid harmful substances, use reduced air and water emissions, increase resource productivity, and the production line is more transparent and trustworthy.
All materials are also finished with a PFAS-free DWR (durable water repellent) for additional weather protection, although please note that this does not make the material 100% waterproof.
Using a PFAS-free DWR also eliminates the use of harmful 'forever chemicals', which are known for polluting waterways and causing lasting damage to our ecosystems.
What backsystem does it use?
The carry system features an Airspeed backpanel made with 3D-tensioned, breathable mesh and side ventilation. It also uses an Airspeed suspension system, which utilises a 4mm lightwire peripheral frame that effectively transfers the weight of your load to the hipbelt, helping to prevent an achy lower back when wearing the pack.
This backpack has a soft, edgeless padded mesh harness with over 4" of adjustability, allowing you to achieve a perfect fit every wear. The hipbelt uses the same soft, edgeless padded mesh, offering a breathable contact surface and heavy load support.
Lastly, an adjustable sternum strap helps to keep the load secure.
What are its features?
The sternum strap features a magnetic bite valve attachment point for accommodating hydration reservoirs.
A stowable AirCover protects the checked-in parts during travel yet doubles as a raincover for navigating your new surroundings.
Large, front-panel access makes for easy packing, plus zipped lower compartment access with a divider helps you to reach items at the bottom of your bag without unpacking everything.
Sleeping pad straps can accommodate sleeping pads for backpacking and camping trips, yet can be removed if you prefer. There are also upper-side, front panel and dual internal compression straps that stabilise the load on the move.
You also get a built-in, multi-function sleeve for carrying a hydration reservoir or tech like a laptop or tablet.
For additional organisation, this bag also has a vertical front panel pocket, a small zipped top pocket for small essentials, zipped hipbelt pockets that are perfect for trail snacks and energy gels, and durable, stretch-woven side pockets that are ideal for carrying a water bottle.
A padded, tubular side grab handle provides a quick grab-and-go option for last-minute airport transfers.
