What is the Abisko Foldsack?
It's a 25-litre backpack designed for shorter trips and travelling, whether day hiking, commuting or heading abroad. The Abisko Foldsack is lightweight, durable and versatile, making it a fantastic staple for both outdoor and urban lifestyles.
What is it made of?
All of the fabric used to construct the Abisko Foldsack is recycled nylon - this includes the main fabric, reinforcement patches and the lining. It offers maximum durability without costing the earth (quite literally!). The primary material is a 210D ripstop, which is thick enough to endure bumps and scrapes in rugged terrain or from regular use and reinforced in vital areas that will see the most wear.
Which backsystem does it use?
As it's a lighter, less techy pack than some other models, it has a fixed backpanel, unfortunately meaning you won't be able to adjust it - this is to keep weight and bulk low.
However, the back panel is constructed with ventilation air mesh that helps to draw in airflow around the rear to help prevent the most significant contact point from becoming sweaty and damp as you go. The shoulder straps are also constructed with the same mesh to maximise ventilation and improve comfort.
What are its features?
This backpack has a fold-over zipped closure that offers good weather protection, is easy to use and gives its look a casual twist, making it versatile and stylish enough for outdoor and urban life. It has a plastic side release buckle to keep it secure, and can provide an extra 4-5 litres of space to accommodate sleeping mats, seat pads and other longer bits of kit.
Underneath the fold, there's a zippered pocket that keeps smaller items that you may want to access quickly within reach. Two oversized side pockets also work well for water bottles that take up too much space inside.
On the front, there are attachments to hold hiking poles or an ice axe to keep them to prevent them from jabbing you in the back. Bungee cords also allow you to attach extra gear or carabiners to the outside.
There are chest straps and hip straps to help keep the pack in place as you move. Both straps are adjustable, meaning you can adapt them to fit your specific size and shape and for when you're wearing thicker layers in colder seasons.
Finally, the main compartment offers plenty of space for chunkier belongings like maps, guidebooks, extra layers or a lunchbox.
