What is the AirZone Active?The AirZone Active is a super-simple yet ingenious little pack designed primarily for hiking and active outdoor use but can also be used for travel and commuting thanks to its AirZone Lite carry system and abundance of organisation options.
What is it made of?It's made using a super tough yet lightweight 210D ripstop nylon with a HydroShield water-resistant coating. This fabric provides plenty of weather-resistance and durability yet weighs very little, allowing the pack to total just 770g.
Which backsystem does it use?It uses Lowe Alpine's AirZone Lite system, a highly ventilated, comfortable and simple design which has been taken and simplified from their larger packs. It uses a layer of mesh suspended around an inch away from the actual body of the pack, resulting in a gap which air can continuously pass through. This not only increases ventilation but stops items in the pack jabbing you in the back. The shoulder straps feature a similar mesh on the inside for added grip and comfort. Both the chest strap and lightweight hipbelt keep the pack securely in place during movement.
What are its features?Starting with pockets, you've got a front stash pocket for items you need quick access to, stretchy side water bottle pockets, a zipped top pocket and an internal zipped security pocket. A hydration sleeve stores a water bladder if you'd rather not use bottles and a handy key clip lives inside the internal pocket to keep them safe when you're pulling stuff in and out.
Other useful features include a light loop, ideal if you're commuting year-round, a raincover to provide total waterproof protection from sudden downpours, secure TipGripper walking pole attachment points, a safety whistle on the chest strap and some reflective graphics next to the logo.
