What is the Norrona Unisex Falketind Econyl70 28L Backpack?
Meet the Falketind Econyl70 28L Pack, the most versatile Norrona's day trip backpack designed for all-season mountaineering. Whether scaling a peak, cycling through trails, or navigating your daily commute, this pack ensures you're ready for any adventure.
What is it made of?
The main fabric of Norrona Falketind Pack is a lightweight yet strong 70D recycled ripstop Econyl. This fabric weighs 79 grams per square meter and is made from recycled materials, which helps reduce environmental impact. It features a ripstop weave, a reinforcing technique that makes the backpack resistant to tearing and ripping.
Additionally, the main fabric has a polyurethane (PU) coating that provides waterproofness. The backpack's rating of 2000 mm means it can withstand moderate rain and keep your belongings drier during wet weather conditions.
Inside the backpack, the lining is made from 70D recycled polyester. Polyester is a synthetic fabric known for its durability, lightweight properties, and resistance to shrinking and stretching. The "70D" refers to the denier count, which measures the fibre thickness; 70 denier provides a great balance between strength and lightness.
The recycled polyester is made from previously used materials, like plastic bottles. This process reduces waste by repurposing items that would otherwise end up in landfills. It also decreases the demand for new raw materials, conserving resources and lowering the environmental impact.
Moreover, this backpack is Bluesign-certified. The Bluesign certification is an environmental standard that ensures the highest level of safety for consumers, manufacturing workers, and the environment. This certification means that the textiles used in the backpack are produced with minimal impact on people and the planet, following strict guidelines to reduce harmful substances and promote sustainable resource use.
Additionally, the backpack features a PFC-free DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish. The repellent used on this product is free of fluorocarbons, chemicals commonly used in water-repellent finishes but are harmful to the environment and human health. A PFC-free DWR treatment ensures that the backpack can repel water effectively while being safer for the planet.
What type of back system is used?
The Norrona Falketind features the Dynamic Carry System, designed to give you comfort and support while exploring. This system includes an adjustable, ventilated back panel with a suspension-style mesh. This mesh creates a gap between your back and the pack, allowing air to flow freely and helping your back stay cooler and drier, which is especially beneficial when hiking or biking on hot days.
The backpack's adjustable back length ensures that it can be customised to fit your body, no matter your height or build. This customisation helps prevent strain and discomfort during long treks or climbs by distributing the weight evenly across your back.
Inside the backpack's back, there is a corrugated (wavy) back mould and a foam sheet. These features work together to make carrying the backpack more comfortable. The corrugated design moulds to the shape of your back, while the foam provides cushioning. This combination helps spread the weight of your load evenly, reducing pressure points that can cause pain or discomfort over time.
What are its features?
The Norrona Falketind Econyl70 28L Backpack features a zippered main compartment. Unlike traditional lids, which can be cumbersome to open and close, the zippered design allows quick and easy access to the main compartment, which is very handy when retrieving items on the go without fumbling with buckles or drawstrings.
The zipper closure provides a secure seal, protecting your gear from elements like rain, snow, or dust.
The U-shaped zipper opening further enhances accessibility. It allows you to see and reach all the contents of the backpack easily, making packing and unpacking more efficient.
Additionally, the streamlined design of the zippered main compartment reduces the overall bulk of the backpack, making it more compact and less likely to snag on branches or rocks during your adventures. This sleek design is beneficial for hiking, biking, or commuting, where a low-profile pack is preferable.
Thanks to multiple storage options you can keep your items neat and organised. A pocket in the top lid is perfect for storing items you need quick access to, such as maps, gloves, or snacks. The hip belt includes a mesh pocket, which is ideal for small items like a phone, keys, or energy bars.
There is also a bottom pocket with side access, allowing you to easily reach items stored at the bottom without unpacking everything else. This feature is perfect for storing items you might need quickly, such as a rain jacket, first aid kit, or extra layers.
On the inside of the pack, there is a small pocket with a hook to which you can attach your keys. This ensures they stay secure, and you never struggle to find them again.
You can easily carry a hydration bladder thanks to the hydration system pocket. Simply sip from the bladder's hose as you walk, ensuring you maintain your energy and hydration levels throughout your adventure.
The backpack has an integrated helmet net designed to securely hold your helmet when you're not wearing it. This net can be attached to either the front or the bottom of the backpack, giving you flexible options depending on your needs.
Thanks to the daisy chain, which is a series of reinforced loops running along the exterior, you can attach your extra gear, such as carabiners, pouches, or tools. This feature is especially useful for climbers, hikers, and campers who need to carry additional equipment that doesn't fit inside the pack.
The backpack also features two dedicated attachments on the front specifically designed for carrying ice axes. These attachments securely hold your ice axes in place, making them easily accessible when you need them.
Finally, the Falketind pack includes side compression straps that allow you to cinch down the pack's contents, reducing the volume and preventing your gear from shifting. This is beneficial when the pack is not fully loaded, as it helps maintain balance and stability.
