What is the Exos 38?
The Osprey Exos 38 is a lightweight performance pack that integrates a specialised AirSpeed™ backsystem for maximum breathability. Made of durable, superlight materials, the Exos 38 has evolved to keep the weight low whilst retaining the best level of performance.
What is it made of?
Osprey has constructed the Exos 38 with 100D High Tenacity Nylon Ripstop Recycled BSAPP CO for a durable, weightless surface. Ripstop fabrics are interwoven as a reinforcement method, allowing the bag to survive a beating from the most rugged terrains.
The material used is Bluesign® approved and GRS-certified, making it a sustainable choice. The PFC/PFAS-free DWR has been applied to provide a protective, water and dirt repellent barrier without the use of chemicals that are harmful to the environment.
What backsystem does it use?
The backsystem is where the magic happens! Inspired by their brilliant AntiGravity™ technology, Osprey has created a seamless construction across the backpanel and hip-belt, using highly breathable suspended mesh to create the AirSpeed™ Ventilated Trampoline Suspended back system. The system consists of four main components:
AIRSPEED™ SUSPENSION – LightWire™ alloy frame creates low profile air space, optimising pack balance and ventilation. Effectively transfers weight from shoulders to the hips.
AIRSPEED™ SUSPENSION BACKPANEL - 3D-tensioned breathable mesh backpanel ensures supportive fit and enhances airflow and ventilation.
SPACERMESH SHOULDER HARNESS - Sewn-in SpacerMesh is constructed of mesh-covered, ventilated die-cut foam to enhance breathability and comfort. The shoulder harness is designed with multiple torso size options and features Velcro adjustability.
SPACERMESH SEWN-IN HIPBELT – Featuring zippered stretch mesh pockets and Ergo Pull closures, the connection to the backpanel mesh eliminates seams, creating a smooth and comfortable lumbar to the hipbelt body wrap.
What are its features?
A removable top lid with an alternative FlapJacket™ opening is ideal for those who want to lighten the load or simply for those who aren't a fan of top lid closures.
The seamless and continuous construction method of the AirSpeed™ system transfers the load superbly and is incredibly comfortable and lightweight. The whole pack is suspended from the backpanel to produce an air gap that allows ventilation in the highest temperatures. It won't stop you from sweating, but it will make you feel more comfortable and less sticky!
A padded hipbelt with dual hipbelt pockets makes for easy accessibility whilst securing the pack to the body. The Shove-It pocket can be used to quickly store thin jackets or smaller items due to its easy zip opening and frontal placement. Sleeping pad straps are removable depending on the type of expedition you're going on, and side compression cords adjust the shaping of the bag, preventing belongings from rocking around if you have extra room.
