What is the Protium 33 ND?
It's a stable, comfortable and versatile 33-litre backpack that's created with a specific women's fit for those with narrower dimensions and smaller frames. With ample storage and plenty of pockets to keep you well-organised on-the-go, it's the ideal pack for long days out in the hills, hut-to-hut adventures and ultralight overnighters.
What is it made from?
The pack is built using a combination of robust nylon materials each with excellent wear resistance, strength and hardiness to tackle tough days in rough terrain. The main body of the pack is constructed from a 100D Robic Nylon Ripstop material with a Hydrosheild coating, whilst a highly durable nylon fabric with TriShield coating is used in varying thicknesses across the pack to balance protection and weight. Panels of 140D nylon are placed on the base of the pack for added reinforcement where it's needed most. The Hydrosheild and TriShield coating both provide light water resistance to help your kit stay dry in damp conditions. However please note, this doesn't make the backpack waterproof.
What backsystem does it use?
The Protium 33 ND features Rab’s specialised AirContour™ backsystem, which offers a supportive, breathable back for multi-activity adventures. The vacuum-formed, moulded ABS back panel is precurved for the optimum breathable and comfortable fit with the contours of your back. The backsystem has a semi-rigid structure to allow the pack to flex with the body as you move, whilst still providing essential support. Whilst the close-fitting harness is edgebound on a single side for extra comfort on long days out on the hill.
The hip belt sits comfortably across your hips to transfer and distribute weight to your lower body. The hip belt can be easily tightened using the forward pull straps to suit varying girths to ensure the perfect fit. To further personalise the fit, the back length can be adjusted for maximum carrying comfort.
What are its features?
For storage, there's a large main compartment for storing lunch, spare layers, stove and other bulky items of kit, whilst a smaller internal zipped pouch keeps your valuables safe when out in the hills.
The dual point lid features internal and external zipped pockets for easy access to frequently used items, keeping you well-organised on the go.
A large front stretch pocket provides additional space for carrying bulky items like a map or extra layer and is also ideal for airing out bits of damp kit. Two mesh side pockets are ideal for holding water bottles instead of having them take up all the space inside the pack, or items of gear you might need close to hand. There are also two zipped hipbelt pockets for storing trail snacks, energy gels or a mobile phone.
If you're a fan of trekking poles, you're in luck! The Protium has walking pole attachment loops with a bungee retention system to keep them securely in place when not in use.
Last but not least, this backpack includes a lightweight rain cover designed to be used in heavier rain and wet conditions where you need complete waterproof protection.
