What is the Quasar?

The Quasar is a versatile, luxuriously comfortable sleeping mat featuring NEMO's 3D cradling support, a selection of tough yet packable fabrics and an included Vortex pump sack.

What is it made of?

It uses a tough yet packable 30D polyester made entirely of recycled post-consumer waste, meaning you're getting a fantastic mat with environmental credentials to match. These fabrics are bluesign approved and go through a stringent process to ensure the processing of the fabric is as responsible as possible.

Underneath the eco-friendly outer fabrics is more eco-friendliness in the form of recycled Primaloft insulation. This makes the mat suitable for all-year-round use and boots warmth dramatically over a standard uninsulated mat.

What are its features?

The most prominent feature is the 3D cradling support. The baffles are gently curved towards the centre of the mat (they're concaved, basically) to keep you in the centre. The baffles are 9cm thick and can be pumped up in small increments using the included Vortex pump sack, allowing you to fine-tune the fit to your weight. This included sack also prevents you blowing moist air into the mat — a big no-no in sub-zero conditions!

Other features include an elevated baffle where your head will sit to keep your pillow in one place and an R-rating of 3.3, meaning it's suitable for all-year-round use. This particular mat is also the long & wide variant, so as you'd expect, it's longer and wider for those who like a little extra wiggle room.
