What is the Tungsten UL 3P?
Marmot's Tungsten Ultralight 3P tent is built for three people and use in the three seasons. Thanks to its versatile feature set and lightweight design, it prioritises weight without compromising comfort and function, making it suited to multi-day treks, backpacking trips and wild camping adventures.
What is it made of?
Fly: A lightweight yet robust 20D polyester ripstop is used on the flysheet to keep bulk and weight low. Benefits are almost endless with this material, but a certain highlight is that it doesn't stretch or sag when wet, and resists UV damage, keeping it in top condition for years to come.
The material has a 1200mm siliconised PU coating for reliable waterproof protection. Seams are also taped to ensure no water leaks through the stitching.
Floor: The base is constructed in a bathtub shape to raise seams away from the bottom to prevent flooding. Like the flysheet, it's seam taped. However, this time, the floor comprises 20D nylon with a siliconised polyurethane coating to reinforce protection when laid on wet surfaces.
Mesh: The inner canopy is made of 15D nylon No-See-Um mesh, an incredibly light, breathable mesh designed to keep creepy crawlies at bay. Though light, being nylon means it's incredibly tough and can withstand regular use in varied terrain without easily ripping or forming holes.
Poles: Poles are made of aluminium, a metal with a great strength-to-weight ratio, offering a reliable structure without adding excessive grams to your load. They are made with Pressfit Pre-bends for added ease of use when setting up your camp, minimising faff time so you can get in the shelter and get a brew on. This zone pre-bend construction also allows the walls to sit vertically to maximise space and volume inside.
For the more eco-conscious adventurer, Marmot has designed and manufactured this tent in conjunction with their People/Product/Planet® philosophy, aiming to commit to minimum impact on the planet while providing maximum performance throughout their products - more information on this can be found on the Marmot website.
What are its features?
Entry: The Tungsten UL 3P has two D-shaped doors for easy access in and out of your tent, ensuring you don't need to wake your camping partner up when taking a midnight trip to the loo. You can leave them open for hot days in the sun to get some extra fresh air and embrace that summer breeze.
Space: As mentioned, this free-standing tent is designed for three people yet gives plenty of space for just two if you're seeking extra room, increasing comfort to help you get a good night's kip. Strategic clip placement provides a larger interior volume for added comfort.
Storage: The two vestibule areas allow you to keep backpacks and gear outside your tent, so you don't get muddy boot-prints and sodden bags stinking out your home away from home. At the top of the interior, you also get a lampshade pocket that securely holds your headtorch to provide ambient lighting for the evening.
Ventilation: Vents are built into the fly to help regulate the temperature inside your tent while minimising condensation build-up through the night, so you don't wake up in a soggy tent.
Guylines, attachments and pegs: Clips and poles are colour coded for easy set-up, creating a semi-freestanding design for three-season use.
Optional Extras: To increase the longevity of your tent, we would recommend purchasing a Tungsten UL 3P footprint to protect the base of the tent from general wear and tear; please note the footprint isn't included when purchasing this product. It must be bought separately.
